Monday Roll Call
Good morning Illinois!!!
I am back at work after a wonderful weekend with my family in Gurnee. So far, my kids still don't mind being seen with us, so we are blessed.
Great America was pretty good. I had a "wow" moment when I went on the "Raging Bull" and loved it. When I was last there, I was afraid to even try to get on that ride due to my size. I also hated most of the day the last time as I was winded and could not walk. I made excuses to take Olivia to the kiddie areas so I could sit and rest. This weekend, we left our hotel at 9:15 am and WALKED to the park (about a mile). Then of course, we walked all day at the park and I only sat down maybe 4-5 times all day. We stayed at the par****il closing at 9:00 pm and walked the mile back! I was the only one NOT complaining about my feet hurting!
I IS kind of interesting though and I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this? I now get nauseous on spinning rides---I never had that problem before surgery. It is just like dumping! I find this to be an odd effect of surgery. The roller coasters did not really bother me though.
We had a great day, the lines were minimal and Todd, David & I rode "Superman" twice, and "Batman", "Iron Wolf" and the "Raging Bull". Liv found that she loves the "American Eagle" and made us do that one numerous times, along with the "Demon". They also rode the "Viper", but I skipped that one as I was feeling kind of iffy.
We went to the Jelly Belly Center on the way home and the kids thought it was pretty cool. Next time, I will skip the tour and just go to the store for the sugar free "Belly Flops".
When we got home, we had a Bear/Packer party with the neighbors. We put the TV outside and watched next to a bonfire. It was lots of fun and a very close game.
Back to the grind today, and to see another doctor tomorrow.

Football was a good distraction this weekend but now it is back to the reality that I must lose weight and badly need the surgeons to get their act together. It seems at the moment that they have but they need their chiefs approval to go forward so I may know about that tonite.
I have used this time to wean myself off cigars but it has taken a toll in the appetite department that I now need to reverse as well. I have regained to 444 so I really want to get at least ten pounds back off.

Hi Dawn and the rest of Illinois,
Another long work week ahead.
Dawn I am glad you had a fun time at Great America. As far as the spinning rides, I have noticed the older I get the worse it gets for me. I am only 34 and the last time I was on the Tilt A Whirl a couple of years ago, I begged the guy to stop the ride because I was going to lose it. Only to find out now I have Meniers disease, so everything gives me vertigo now.
Randy,
I hope you get the answers you want today or at least have someone tell you some good news. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
I have to go to get a fill on Wednesday and I have to make a Dr appt today to have my knee looked at, I fell on it a couple of weeks ago and it is not getting any better.
Have a great day everyone
Sheri

Hi everyone,
Dawn - it is awesome that you had such a great day at Great America! Enjoy the kids while they are still young enough to be "too cool" to hang with mom. My daughter and I are smack dab in the middle of the "too cool" stage. I can't wait until this phase ends!
Randy - I hope that good news comes through tonight regarding your surgery. My thoughts are with you - the waiting is enough to drive you nuts.
Sherri - Good luck with your fill this week and with the knee.
Watched the Bear/Packer game last night. Too bad the Bears could not pull it out for a win! Today is more job hunting for me!
Hope everyone enjoys the great weather!

Hello Illinois,
I great this morning! Trying to get a lot of work completed errrr!
Can anyone tell me how they dealt with letting Co-workers know about there surgery. I honestly do not want co-workers to know ANYTHING!!! I dont want anyone from any of my organizations that I am apart with know either.
I just dont know what to tell them, when I am off work for awhile or not involved.
Thoughts?

Dear Tonya:
This is a very personal decision for each of us. If you do not want anyone to know, don't tell them. You tell them that you are off work for either "personal" reasons, or surgery---no explanation. If they ask what type of surgery, tell them it is personal.
Later, you may change your mind or you may not. Once you lose a substantial amount of weight, some may guess. It is still up to you whether you want to reveal it or not.
I was very worried about it beforehand and only told the 3-4 people that NEEDED to know. Most everyone was more supportive than I had imagined they would be. Now, after the weight loss, I have no issues telling most people about my surgery, but there are still some to which I haven't explained anything.

I think your so right about this being a personal decision. I told everyone I worked with and I've had both positive and negative responses. The whole thing comes down to it being your decision. Believe me some people will guess it after you begin to loose weight. What is important is that this is a time for you to take care of you and do what you need to do not what anyone else thinks you should do. It's a time to be very self centered.
Best wishes on having a date, keep up the good work towards your surgery.

If you are having your surgery done laproscopic (sp), tell them you are having gallbladder surgery. Ifthey want to visit while you are in the hospital tell them you really would like them to wait till you feel better. I had lapband over 2 yrs ago and I have not told a soul and I live in a small town. Its your business and you only have to share what you want!
