And the doctor says.......
I need to see ANOTHER doctor!
I spent 2 hours of my day today going to a "discussion appointment" just to find out that he wants me to consult with another surgeon first. They could have called me to tell me THAT!
I have three issues that need to be addressed. He seems to think we are going to do 3 separate surgeries. That is NOT what I have been told this whole time. All the colon guys keep saying that they can do their repairs at the same time as this first doctor is doing his. NOW, the first doctor is saying that he needs permission from this next surgeon to do 2 of the prodedures together, with no clear answer on the third issue. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
SO, another appointment, next Tuesday to ask permission. I have about had it with these clowns! I just KNEW I should have gone to Madison in the beginning. Now, I am afraid that I won't have time. I really need/want to get this taken care of before my insurance rolls over on November 1st.
Oh well, at least it is not life-threatening.
Thanks for all your good thoughts and prayers, I just wanted to vent a bit.
Now, I feel better!

Dawn, I would still seek a second opinion, if it were me. This IS surgery you're talking about, so I'd make sure you feel okay about the treatment plan.
If you are upfront and aggressive with the Madison docs, you might be able to get them to fast-track you.
Hugs,
Nicolle

Hi Lisa:
I have damage caused by the birth of my very large children (with "failure to progress" during labor) to my pelvic wall and sphincter area. I also have a bladder the size of a volleyball that does not empty completely, causing me to "go" around 20 times per day. I have lived with this for at least 12 years, and had mentioned it to my doctor at that time, who told me to do Kegels. That lead me to believe that I had to live with it.
When I went to my new doctor at the end of July, I mentioned it, she checked it out and said that there was NO reason to live like that and that it could be fixed. The shuffling between all these specialists began at the first of August and continues.
Today, I am going to try to reach someone in Madison to see if I have any options with them.
Sorry if this is TMI for some, but now, you know!

Hi Dawn. Sorry to hear that you don't have an answer and action plan.
Yes, they could have called you and handled this over the phone instead of making you come in for an appointment.
This reminds me of when I was having my first plastics and hernia repair. My WLS surgeon's office told me that my surgeon was doing the panni and hernia repair. I said no, just the hernia repair. I had to come in and have another appointment with my surgeon. What a waste of time! My surgeon said he didn't understand why the nurse didn't understand it! I was so upset and also had asked my plastic surgeon to talk with him. I couldn't understand what was the issue! I even asked my plastic surgeon if he would do the hernia repair if my general surgeon wouldn't.
Doctors! Ugh!!
My prayers are with you Dawn!
Hugs,
Lucy
