Hope you're feeling better but I agree the g tube is no fun at all.  I've had one since July 14....what do you want to know?

Sharon...  i wann know everything and everything!  you still have your Gtube?  Since July?  how come?  how do you deal with yours... i hate it.. its bothersome...  i have had two small infections around it and its sore...  when it gets bumped or jostled it hurts like hell.

whats the whole purpose for this thing?  i am not sure i understand this whole decompression of the stomach concept...

anything you can share would be helpful... Sept. 24 cant get here fast enough

I had an open RNY on May 4 and haven't recovered well.   After two endoscopies they put the G tube in because my nutrition is so poor.   I had more tests this week and will have surgery probably next week - a revision since my small bowl is apparently too short to absorb nutrients.  The "good" news is I have lost more than 100 pounds - just too fast and I am very weak.
As far as the tube - mine is sore most of the time and I'm constanty readjusting the tape I use to hold it in place because if it does get pulled it really, really hurts.  I use ice packs to reduce the stinging.
Are you putting anything down the tube?   I use mine for ensure and liquid potassium and have to make sure to flu**** regularly - the potassium stings.   I don't know why they would use one to "decompress' your stomach.
At any rate - good luck with your recovery.  I have never posted on this site before because I figured my story was too depressing.  Thanks for being brave enough to share your story.

Thanks for sharing. My gtube isn't used for feeding @ all. As it was explained its used to decompress the old stomach. My surgeon uses them with all his revision surgeries. Less than two weeks and they will pull this thing out. Anyone know or experience how they do that??

Good Morning Crystal and Illinois Friends!

((((((Crystal))))))  I am so sorry to hear that this has happened to your niece.  No one wants this to happen to anyone let alone their family.  My prayers are with you, your niece and her entire family.  I can't begin to imagine the feelings and emotions that all of you are dealing with.  Be as supportive as possible.  Take the time necessary to get a grip on this.

I am glad it is almost Friday.  I am ready for the weekend.  I am working the next few weeks until 6pm and as a person of routines, I don't like my schedule changed.  But I will live.  I have a job.  I am very thankful for that.

Just an ordinary day for me.  I would like to say welcome to our newbies.  You have found a great place to call home.  Stay for awhile.  We want to get to know you!

Thanks for all of your kind words and prayers.

For those that asked, yes he is being charged.  He is sitting jail.  We're not sure exactly what the charges will be (they are still investigating) but I know child *****graphy and sexual assault will be just some of the charges.  I know that violence isn't that answer but I do get some enjoyment out of the fact that my sister beat him up.  He had to go to the hospital.  But most mothers would have reacted the same way.

I would get joy out of that too Crystal... I am so sorry your family had to go through this.  My God keep and bless your neice to heal through her pain and yours and your sisters too.  Not much up here today took the kids to the libraby for story time and they enjoyed it.

I did have a real scare this morning though....... I woke very thirsty and drank a big gulp of water......well not a good idea but I just felt soooo thirsty.  I was so sick I vomited for 20 minutes and then layed in a hot bath to calm myself down.  I was so scared, that really has not happened before, especially from only water on an empty stomach.  I took 2 tylonal for a headach before bed so then I was worried that they were stuck.  I went back to bed after my bath and felt better when I woke up.  I was hungry so I had some cream of wheat for breakfast which went down fine thank goodness.  That really scared me.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!  Keep Crystal and her family in our thoughts and prayers!

Lisa

Hi everyone,

Crystal, I am so sorry to hear about your niece.  I cannot believe the depravity of some people.  My thoughts an prayers are with you and your family.

Another pretty day in Illinois - if only it were like this year round!

Still job hunting here - not alot of luck unfortunately.

Sheri, I am so sorry I cannot make the party.  Hopefully you will have lots of last minute RSVPs.

Have a good day everyone.

Cory,
Don't worry about not being able to make it, my comment was not meant towards you.  You would think after inviting 50 people at least 5 might show up.
