New to QC
Hi all!
My name is Amy and Im 25 years old. Im about a year and a half out from my surgery but still checking in on the OH forums as much as possible. I recently moved to the Quad Cities and I figured its about time I get on the forums for the state I live in. Just moved up here pretty recently from Texas and so far Im loving it. Ive missed snow and Im very muchly looking forward to the first snowfall. *_* I started out at 321 lbs. and in my year and a half Ive brought myself down to 165 lbs. My surgery is one of the best things that have ever happened to me. I still have a little bit to go and the loss has slowed down a little but I know I will get there. =D Anyways, thats a little about me. Just wanted to say HI and give some background. I look forward to hearing from my fantastic new home state. =D

Welcome to the board. My DH and I love the QC area. We try to get there at least once a year. We especially love the little town of LeClaire and stay at the Comfort Inn near the Welcome Center. We love to go to Steventon's restaurant that is a stones throw from the Comfort Inn. It sits high above the river and the views are fantastic. It has great qualitiy food and service. My DH is from East Central IA so most things and places in IA he loves to go to.
If you have younger kids or just are young at heart yourself you might want to check out the zoo in Coal City. It is really cute. You also have great walking and bike paths on each side of the Mississippi. Also a lot of festivals during the warm months and other things to do. The Mississippi is a great boating area right there in the QC. Have you heard of Tug Fest? In August there is a fest on each side of the river in LeClaire (IA) and Port Byron (IL). River barge traffic is shut down for two hours and the two towns compete in several tug 'o wars across the river between the towns. They have this big ass rope that is about 2 inches thick and weighs a lot and then even more when it gets wet from being in the water. There are a ton of things to do on each side of the river from great restaurants, festivals, shopping, antiquing, beautiful areas to drive and see along the river, eagle watch, sightsee on river boat excursions, wineries you name it. There is great tourism info in each state along the interstate and also in each of the towns. http://www.visitquadcities.com/site/index.php This is the sight I usually go to for info.

Welcome, Amy!
You can tell I am from Chicago because I had to open your message to see what "QC" was!!!
Hope you enjoy Illinois. The winter is brutal, but you just might find it a refreshing change from Texas.
