Back from Ortho Doc Visit

Well, I'm back at work.

I have to get an MRI of my right knee. Although I do have right degenerative joint disease, I may have a torn muscle or ligament. He gave me Norco for nighttime only. I have to use a cane also.

I'm trying to get my MRI done tomorrow or at best, Friday. Now I have to get insurance approval before they can do it.

I have another appointment with my doc next Wednesday. I might have to have an arthroscopy done.

After all the movement with my affected knee with his examination, it hurts more than ever!

Oh well, another week of agony!

Thanks. Of all days, today was a long day at work. Then I had to stop at the drugstore for my meds and buy a cane. The weather was awful too with drenching rains.

I start my pain meds for bedtime tonight. We'll see how it goes.

Lucy, you know everything is done in baby steps. Get the MRI and then he will be able to tell how bad you really are getting. Take your pills and rest.

Hugs, LISA

Hi Lisa. Only got meds for nightime.

I'm going to try to see if someone else can give me some for daytime. This is tougher than anything else I've been through in my life.

Thanks
Lucy

I hope you get your MRI  ASAP.  You know you are hurting and that will show the doctors just what is going on.  I know the cane is humbling but believe me it helps.  I am sorry he did not give you anything for the daytime.  Ask your PCP for some meds.  Maybe they will help you.  I do hope you get to the bottom of this fast and that the resolution can be simple.  Hugs.

Hi Nancy. It's been a long day. I had too much walking in the hospital today of all days. I don't think it helped when my doc was manipulating my knee during the exam.

At least if I could get some uninterrupted sleep, that would help. It's been over a month since this started. I'm so tired!

Thanks for your message and good thoughts.

Dear Lucy, is there anyway that you can sleep on your back (or other area of your body) with having your leg bent with a pillow under it or supporting it? It sounds that you need to keep the leg slightly bent and that will keep you from waking up in pain. I have a similar situation with sleeping in positions that cause stress to an area that might be in pain. It only happens when I am in pain for a particular area of my body.

Dear Chris,
Thank you for this advice. I've tried multiple positions including having a pillow under my leg. That caused even more pain. I've tried lying on my back with the knee bent in the best position I could with the least pain and that doesn't work for long.

I've never had such excruiating pain even when I was close to 500 pounds!

This is really affecting my health and well being. Hardly any sleep and being immobile too.

I'm going to ask the physical therapy department about the proper use of my cane today.

I appreciate your post and suggestions to me.

Hopefully I will get some answers mid-week.
