Hello! *newbie on the premises*
Hi there,
I just found this site tonight. My personal trainer has reccommended that I find some support, which I agree with. Since I'm meeting with her tomorrow, I needed to get cracking. :)
I am in Limbo right now. My paperwork has been sent to insurance as of Wednesday, 8/12/09. I have BCBS Highmark and I'm *hopefully* having my surgery at Alexian Brothers with Rantis. I'm really nervous about the whole approval process. I just don't want to be disappointed again.
I'm 35, obese my whole life, teach preschool full time and love it. I'm in the western suburbs of Chicago. I have a bunch of co-morbidities and I'm really looking forward to getting rid of them.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and reading about your experiences.

Hi Sue,
We are happy that you found us. We are a close group that really do support each other. Not only with our weight loss or lack of issues, but as friends and family. A lot of us use the Kane Center, and if their is even a remote chance you won't get approved, they will fight for you. I yhad BCBS Anthem, based in
Ohio, and I got approved in less then a week.
Please check in daily in our roll call. Thiis is how we keep up with everyday things.

Welcome Sue!
I sure am glad you found us. I find this group is the most helpful, supportive group I have ever met. Stop by each day for the daily roll calls. Also we have meet and greets. Please don't hesitate to join us. I did not go to the first one because I was too "shy" I really missed out on meeting a great group of people face to face. Now I don't want to miss a meet and greet. These are held in various locations at peoples homes or restaurants or parks.

Hi, Sue! Welcome.
I didn't have the RNY or band, I had the duodenal switch (DS), so I can't offer advice about your surgeon. But I like to hang out here and get to know others in Illinois on the journey from obesity.
Your profile is empty (for now, I hope!), but if one of your comorbidities is Type 2 diabetes, you may want to read up on the DS at www.dsfacts.com. It has--by far--the highest cure rate for Type 2 at 98.9%. It cured my diabetes and sleep apnea and I lost 199 pounds in 17 months, so I am a big fan!
Best of luck to you on your journey!

Hi Sue,
Welcome to the Illinois OH board! I am a newer member myself, but already feel like some of the other members are friends. I find myself eagerly checking the board to see how everyone is doing.
I have learned so much on this forum as well as the main board, that I feel like I almost have an unfair advantage heading into surgery
All my info was sent in to my insurance company the same day yours was. Let's keep our fingers crossed that we get the "all clear" soon!
