Dr. Prachand patients
Hello Pam!
Six months until you get a surgery appointment is pretty fast. Dependent upon your insurance coverage, there may also need the following time crunchers:
* Required Diet
* Required Weight Loss
* Diagnostic Testing
During your wait time, try to get a head start on your insurance's requirements.
Good Luck!

Initial appointments occured just a few weeks after my application was submitted. Official acceptance into the program took about 10 days from the evaluation appointments. It was September/October 2008.
Once my insurance approvals all came through I was able to schedule surgery within a few weeks back in March 2009. Getting insurance company to approve took all the in-between time from October 2008 through February 2009. (had to see several other specialists)
I've heard that for anyone with medicare/medicaid can take a LOT longer. I think it's some kind of quota system - only so many patients with these insurers are accepted in any given time frame so the waiting list and times are very long.
