Dear Cheroity:

I am so glad to hear from you!  I am glad that you are home and healing.

The "buyers remorse" is very real and the swinging hormones and effects from surgery make this a very overwhelming time.  Hang in there.  Follow your doctor's orders and in a month, this time will seem a distant memory.  In 6 months, you will be enjoying your new life and be surprised at all the changes that will occur.

Coming here is the best thing that you can do.  We are all here for your suppport.

Take it one hour at a time, sip, sip, sip, walk, walk, walk, rest, rest, rest, rest,rest............

Tell someone that you love them!

Cherocity,

I am so glad that you are home!  There is no place like home.  We all had the hormonal swings and they can be tough.  Hang in there and come here for support and love.  Everyone here is so great especially with all of their knowledge and wisdom.  They all got me through my recovery too.

Pain management is important, maybe you can call your DR and ask for something stronger and they can call it in.  Make sure it is liquid and you can have the pharmacy flavor it for you just like a kid.  That is what saved me.  They had to flavor all my liquid meds cause I could not get them down any other way.  That too will pass though and soon you will be back on tablets.  Especially since you had open surgery your pain has to be more than mine which was Lap.  Take it easy and take care of yourself.

Dawn has it right for sure!  Sip, sip, sip, rest, rest, rest, walk, walk, walk, and repeat!

Dont be afraid to call your dr with any questions you have, that is what they are there for and are used to post ops calling them,  DONT HESITATE!  Make yourself comfortable as possible and you will heal quicker.

Take care and come here for support often!

I am so glad that you are home and in familiar surroundings.  Oh my, you drove yourself home?  and NO pain meds!  I would have been dying.  I can appreciate the pain of recovery from open surgery as I had open gall bladder surgery.  So, gentle hugs.  It stinks.

The first few weeks are the hardest.  It does get better with each passing day.  I promise that a month from now you will be wondering what you were so upset about.  The crying jags will come and go.  They are all the hormones that are being released from the fat cells.  Right now, they are from the anesthesia.  I always cry a lot anytime I am put under.  It takes a good week or so for that to get out of your system.

Now is the time to baby yourself, take it easy, walk a lot, and come here often and do call the doctor if you have any questions or concerns.  That is what they were paid for.

Prayers and thoughts are still with you for a speedy recovery.

Cheroity,
My thoughts are with you. I can vouche for the hormone issues. I have been very emotional and *****y the past few days. On the way back from my surgeon's office to have my drain port removed my hubby decided to stop for McDonald's, I ordered a water with a lemon slice. Not only did he eat it front of me (I wasn't hungry but the smell made me "want" it) he took a sip of my water and left the salty taste of the fries on the straw and I FLIPPED OUT. It was an all-day arguement. My step-dad was telling me to chill out. I went from pissed to crying in two seconds flat. Now, I have also started spotting (Aunt Flow just HAD to show up now?!) so I'm sure that plays into it too. But yes, with the drugs, the realization your life is about to change forever, and the hormonal changes in your body is enough to set anyone into an emotional rollercoaster.

Hang in there, it gets better!

Please don't use a straw.  The extra air in your pouch can be damaging.

Hang in there! The first few weeks after any surgery can be tough.

I would talk to your doc and get some pain management. You don't need to suffer.

Oh sweetie!  I can vouch for all those feelings you are having.  I had my surgery done Lap, but then due to complications ended up back in the hospital a week later and after a week there, they decided to open me up and fix some things....after another week in the hospital (a total of 2 weeks) I was allowed to go home, where I cried all the time and told everyone that I should just die!
It was horrible, but now at just over a year out, I am thrilled with life and enjoying things that I never thought I would do again!!
You hang in there honey and if you want to talk, just send me a message and maybe I can give you a call or something....
Love and hugs to you!!

Monica
