You really need to get past this hair loss ordeal.  You've been freaking out over this for months.  It's a small price to pay for getting healthy.  What can you do to minimize it??  Follow your nuts/dr's orders on food intake.  Make sure you're getting in enough protein.  In the begining you will not be able to get in all your protein so don't fret.  I noticed a little bit of hair loss at about four months and it maybe lasted a few months.  It was nothing noticeable.  I only noticed it when I put gel in my hair after I washed it.  It would be on my hands but like I said, nothing noticeable.

You will be fine and hair or no hair... you are beautiful.

Your hair growth is on a 3-month cycle. Take a multi-vitamin in the months before your surgery, get your required amount of protein in before your surgery. If your nutrition levels are fine 3-months all the way up to your surgery date your hairloss will not be nearly as bad as it could be if you did not.

I hope this helps!

Hi there. I have always had thick full hair. It started falling out 2-3 months after surgery. I had a complication and actually had 2 surgeries in 3 days. The anestetic is what made my hair come out. Because of the 2nd surgery, I had more hair loss than most. I started taking vitamins SKIN, HAIR & NAILS by Natrol. It helped a lot. I would get a small handfull of hair when I would shower. After 6 months it slowed down. I could tell it was thinnner, but almost noone else could. Only my mom could when I would pull my hair back.  Another side effect of the anestetic, my hair came back in curly. I know it sounds wierd, but I have always had a small amount of wave to my normally straight hair. Now I have curls galore. My hairdressor says that can be a side effect if you loose a larger amout of hair, it can come in curly.

I did not lose my hair this time from surgery.  It did thin some.  My surgeon really stressed making sure I had adequate protein intake.  I am almost 6 feet so I have to get in 120g a day.  I also take a 5,000mg biotin capsule every day.  I think the combo of both helped me maintain healthy hair with a minimum of hair loss.

Well I lost 60% of my hair in my mid 30s and they never figured out why. You'd think I'd have lost more since I had my surgery in Oct08.  I have had none but I make sure I get 60-80 grams of protien a day.  It isn't pretty but them that can't grow it can always buy it.
