O. M. G.!! My RNY surgery date has been moved up!

To NEXT Wednesday, July 15th from the original date of August 11th!    WOW....I am frantically trying to get everything in order (work ups, nutritionist meeting, job request off, etc)

I am almost panicky, this was not expected! Excited yet freaked out at the same time.

My 5 day liquid diet would start Friday & I have a huge drinking / pool party planned for Saturday the 11th, crap! That is going to be hard and I don't want to cancel the party but I also dont know if I want everyone knowing what I am doing just yet. How do I explain no drinking no eatting for me?

Crap, crap, crap!

I don't even know how to feel about this....

Sorry, just wanted to vent since NONE of my friends are answering their phones.

Anyone else had their surgery drastically moved up? How did you feel?

Dear Heather:
Congratulations, your prayers have been answered!  Now, you have plenty of time to recover before school.

As far as the party goes, I had to guest bartend while on my liquid diet, and I also didn't want to let everyone know what was going on.  I just drank my water with lemon and no one really noticed.  When offered food, I said, "no thank you" and just changed the subject.  At one point, there was one person who insisted that I try something that they were having and I had a bite.  That one bite did not de-rail the liquid diet (and I had 10 days of liquids!) and it was easier to cave into the pressure than it would have been to explain or argue about it.

I guess what I am saying is.....try to relax, breathe and be happy!  Your new life will begin before you know it.  You have been working towards this goal for a long time.  Just be the very busy hostess and let them think you are drinking vodka in your water or Crystal Light.  If you would usually have a beer, tell them that you are losing weight and have sworn it off.

Tell someone that you love them!

Hmm...I wonder...so my parties always consist of jello shots...lots of them! (kind of a theme at my parties) am I able to eat the sugar free jello while on liquid diet? I assume so....I can just have my hubby make a batch virgin and not tell them and that way I still feel like I'm participating.

My parties are usually a "shot party" we do shots of different stuff etc not much into beer or wine coolers. Just mixed hard liquor stuff.

What do ya think? lol I'm crazy, I'm having a surgery in a week and I'm worried about a party!

PERFECT!!!!  Virgin Sugar Free Jello will absolutely do the trick.  Perfectly legal.

Sugar Free popscicles too.  Something to munch.

Have a really great time and realize that a lot more great times are to come.

Congratulations on your new date!  I know it is scarry to have it moved up so soon, but think that now you have an extra month to get healthy.  It will so great when you dont have to take all those meds anymore!

Good luck and look to the future!  Your long and healthy future!

Congratulations!  How exciting for you!  I am sure you are jumping up and down for joy.  I can also understand the panic.  You are about to experience the most wonderful ride of you life!  It is amazing.  Try to relax and enjoy it.

As far as your party, sugar free jello shots are perfect!  I never ate so much sugar free jello than when I was on my liquid diet.  No one will ever know the difference.  Good luck to you.   I am so happy for you.

Oh,,, They want to cut you almost as much as they wanted to cut me.. I had about the same amount of notice. No,, BIG WHOOP!!!!! The quicker it comes the less time you'll have to think about it the less worried you'll be.. Did the surgeons office give you the list of stuff you'll need pre and post op??? If not just ask we'll all give you a shopping list. I would go to the party. If you're mind stays in the game you'll probably do okay. If people question what you're doing its your choice to tell them or not. I chose to tell. I figured honesty is always best. Good luck and make sure you get a day of pic to add to your book.. I forgot to get on..

Hey,
No, I haven't been given any info yet. I see my nutritionist tomorrow morning, I'd assume she will give me all that info when I see her (atleast I hope so) but if anyone is willing to give me that info freely I'd sure appreciate it!

As for the party, I am the one hosting it. Been telling people about it for 2 weeks (thinking my surgery was in August!) and I'd feel really bad cancelling it, so I'll just have to deal. Not all my friends know what is going on with me so it's gonna be hard but I'll manage.
