Family and Friends support is paramount!

Good Morning IL Forum.
I am on my 2nd day of 6 to fast for surgery. I created a family and friends fasting team of "angels"  to help me out.. My 21 year old daughter is helping me along with my sister and others. Its not easy. Im glad they all stepped up to help me. Last night, when i got tired of being hungry, I just went to sleep at like 7:00 pm.  I've been trying to keep myself busy mostly, but i still find myself  looking at clocks and calendars.  

But, this doesn't mean that everyone is happy about the surgery.  Some of my friends/family are vehemently against the surgery and let it be known.  Since I have been working on protecting myself more these last few years. I kind of put those people outside my universe. Some temporarily and some permanently.  I need to get to my surgery drama free.

Thats why its so good to have this outlet. You know everyone is on the same page. Friends and family can be a great support network or a big pain in the ***!

Good for you Candy!

Hang in there.  You are lucky....some of us had to do liquids for 2 weeks!  You are doing well and you are correct.....support is KEY.  Those that do not support you need to be set to the side right now.  This surgery is a very personal decision and you are worth it! 

Your life is going to change in many ways, and it is an exciting ride, if not always a smooth one.

Keep up the great work!

I was gratefull about having to do liquids for 1 week, because I saw many others had to do more than 1 week.  I am ready for a life changing act to occur - I know there will be bumps.

Candy, The Friends and Family that don't support your decision to get healthy are not looking out for your welfare. They want you to remain fat and unhappy so it makes them feel better. We really are here for you and can't wait until you join us on the losers bench. Thursday will be here before you know it, and the surgery will be behind you, and you will be on one of the greatest journeys of your life. I am so excited for you.

THanks for your support and I can't wait to be on the losers bench.  I know that others sometimes don't understand why we choose a surgery or weight w****chers or whatever else.  It just seems that somethings are more acceptable than others.

I am fortunate to have a host of friends and fam that do support me.

I know what you mean.  My sister doesn't know that I will be getting WLS.  She is soooo negative and I don't need that right now.  She really ripped into my best friend when she had the surgery so I kow how she will act if I told her I was getting surgery.  Lucky for me everyone else in my life is very supportive of my decsion.  I wish you luck with your surgery.  If you ever need someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on contact me any time on the board.

I know that feeling. One of my closest cousins went off and was calling the surgery the easiest way out etc. And that was the lightweight conversation. But, I have realized something this year.  My business really took off these last couple of years.  When that happened many of my friends and family start acting funny.  So I already know what the weight loss surgery is going to bring.

A larger haters club membership. I have to grow through that and pray for them, me and others that want to do this surgery. Because "we" know this is far from easy. So keep focused until you get to the promise land.
