Calling all Dr Vitello patients

I know, I know I have already had WLS and have a great surgeon but I am doing research for my niece as she has to go to an in network doctor for her insurance. I am not sure which insurance she has but here goes.

Any members on this board that has had any contact whether negative or postive please come in and give me some feedback so I can pass it onto her.

Great Doctor. I couldn't have picked a better guy to do my rny.

He doesn't have a real great bedside manor but he explains everything in easy language, and he does have a handful of med students around him at all hours of the day or night.

But I heard from the med students while I was at the hospital that he is one of the best. Even the ones that didn't work for him.

I had a great experience.

I did mine at UIC and I think they take everything as far as insurance goes.

I would recommend him any time.

Hi, I met with Dr. Vitello @ UIC back in May.  I really liked him and felt totally comfortable with him and his staff, other than the Nutr I met there.  She didn't give me much info just some very basic dietary guidelines for after surgery, typed on 1 sheet of paper.  I have learned more about diet etc from my Nutr and people on here.    Of course I haven't had surgery but if I ever do I'd go to him.

When you go for surgery she will give you a whole packet. I think I got mine on the appointment before my surgery. (Like a week before it) 

Another thing I liked about him......... NO PRE-SURGERY WEIGHT LOSS or special diet..

If I could have done it myself I would have done it.

Thanks for the additional info Dave.  My insurance required 6 months med supv diet, which I did.  However my pcp requred participation in their Metabolic program,  I lost 25 # before starting the metabolic program and  during their program lost another 27 #. So now they don't think I need to have wls and want me to continue on my own.  So we shall see.  I haven't lost any additional in the last month, but am workling on refocusing my program and getting into a better routine.
