How We Moved and What We Ate On One Fourteen Nine
I got addicted to the chicory at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, but I am too cheap to have it shipped, so.........I make my own blend.
I use a decaf French Roast Coffee, beans, if I can get them--Trader Joe's has really good ones---otherwise Maxwell House has a decaf French Roast that will do. I mix one can of the ground French Roast with one package of chicory, sold in stores as "Coffee Partner". It is sold by the coffee in a small orange box (about 4 in x 4 in). So far, I can only find the "Coffee Partner" in "Schnucks" supermarkets out here, but I live in a more rural area.
The MIM is a "Muffin in a Minute"---a low carb bread alternative.
Here is the basic recipe: (I will post them as an R.O.D. in a separate post for those who have not seen them.)
Minute Muffins
Take the small mixer cup that came with the Magic Bullet and add:
1/4 cup flax meal (grind ½ c seeds in bullet)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 or 2 packets of splenda
1 teas cinnamon
1 large egg
Mix in the Bullet for about 5 seconds (make sure well blended)
Microwave for 1 minute! (in the same cup)
If you want you can add 2 T of cream cheese to the mixture (Plopped in the middle--it manages to stay in the muffin and ooze out when you eat it!)
While warm spread with some butter, cream cheese or SF jelly (watch the
carbs in the jelly)
1.5 net carb. (?) According to CalorieCounter.com, here are the stats:
Calories 200 Calories from Fat 135 |
% Daily Value* |
Total Fat 15.0g 23% |
Saturated Fat 1.6g 8% |
Cholesterol 212mg 71% |
Sodium 72mg 3% |
Total Carbohydrates 11.6g 4% |
Dietary Fiber 9.3g 37% |
Protein 12.4g |
I usually add 1 tsp. vegetable oil and that adds 40 calories.
I have not invested in a bullit yet but guess I need to do that eventually.
Does your protein mix well with the coffee?
The Magic Bullet is great, but I have been hearing a lot about a personal blender from Hamilton Beach that is just about the same, but WAY less expensive. Only about $15 as opposed to almost $ 45-50 for the bullet.
As long as you "temper" the protein by mixing it with cold water BEFORE adding the hot liquid, it works GREAT! If you do not mix the protein with cold water first, you wind up with little curds of protein that have to be chewed........and I HATE to have to chew my coffee or cocoa

Wishing you an awsome day!

2 tootsie rolls (mini)

2 tootsie rolls (mini)
Fiber One granola bar
1 cup popcorn
3 SF halls (cough drops)

Bariatric Vitamins which I don't take faithfully ( I know very very bad)
Water off and on throughout the day and 1 small glass of diet cream soda (lots of ice)
I hate when I'm stuck at home I munch more than actually eat meals. When I'm out and busy I forget to eat most the time or just have a handful of almonds, thru out the day off and on.
