Well, I know it has been awhile since posting.  I got up at 5 am and was at the gym by 6 am for my workout.  I have my one year appointment with Dr. Kane this evening, so I am keeping the fingers crossed that the snow holds off for a while.  My days are always predicitable with work, homework, house work, and family....wait, there is just too much work going on...

I hope everyone has a good day.

Good Afternoon everyone!

Finally made it home from a day full of errands and an Endocrinologist apt.  All went well with the apt, He is very happy with all of my lab work and my blood sugars and hemoglobin A1c.  I see him again in 3 months and only have to do spot checks on my blood sugars at different times during the day, so we can make sure I am holding good all day.  HURRAY!  If nothing else, the surgery cured my diabetes, htn ( my bp was 106/70!)  and high cholesterol!

This weeks weather should be doosey!! I hope everyone stays warm and well.  I hope Janet gets well soon and loves the new her!

If anyone is interested ABMC is having their monthly support group on Saturday morning at 10:30!  All are welcome, it is a great group, maybe this time we can have our lunch in the cafe afterwards and talk!  Is anyone interested?

Stay warm all and stay healthy!

Good Afternoon Everyone

It has started snowing here (central Illinois)--and it is cold, cold, cold.

I spent this morning catching up on the laundry.  I spent this afternoon at Curves.  My goal this week is to go 3 times.    I am 1/3 of the way to meeting that goal

My son doesn't go back to college until this weekend--he has decided to finish his degree with his current major--which is history.  He was doing education as a minor but he stated he really doesn't want to be a teacher--so he is changing his minor to law enforcement administration.   It  will only add on an extra semester unless he takes a summer class or so.  Time will tell.

I hope everyone is doing well--stay warm

I was up early this morning, but didn't have internet connection, so I didn't post sooner.  I spent part of the day taking inventory of clothes I will be giving away.  Most of it is summer wear.  I arranged a couple of drawers with summer wear to keep in two different sizes, so I will be ready.  I haven't decided at what point to get rid of clothes in winter wear, as I have no idea how long I might be around this weight.  (I finally went down a pound after being at the same weight for over a week).

I finally had to go downstairs to the basement and reset the modem to get the internet.

I also spent some time on the phone, reducing my phone service to local calls only, our cell phones will pick up the long distance calls (I reduced minutes on that as well).  We will change internet providers.  I got rid of some features on our satellite TV.  I canceled my health club membership.  I tried to cancel my old cell phone, but have to wait one more month before I can without penalty.  I called my mortgage company for options, but they want some kind of paperwork filled out first.

I did notice when I was on the phone, I was not getting enough liquids in. (or protein)  I have been up and down the stairs more than I would have liked as well.  I am sure I have some more calls to make tomorrow.

I hope you are all well.

If you are going to keep DSL on your new internet provider you may want to look at a thing called MagicJack. Voice quality is not great but it is cheap, cheap, cheap.

llse, Keep your chin up. Your DH is probably going to get unemployment. That will help you. And you will more then likely be eligible for Cobra insurance. Looknto Vontage for in house phone service. It works off of the internet I think. Mine was off for over a year 6 years ago. And even with me working, we had to scale back a lot. Our one advantage was that we didn't owe on our house and our kids were on thier own. But, you know, we have adjusted, we went from  having a lot of spendable income, to just a bit, but it is fine. You and your hubby will look back in a couple of years and laugh about this. There are alot of people in the same boat as you are right now.

Hugs,
Lisa

The problem with Vonage is that if your cable goes out then your home phone service goes out also. ALSO if you dial 911 it does not automatically go into your local police department. It goes to a center out on the west coast first then is transferred to the local PD. Just because it is a cheaper rate it does not mean that you are getting better service. We have a a friend that is in IT that went to it and dropped it just for the later reason as he has 3 small children and an elderly father living with him, as did another friend (not in IT that dropped them also). The 911 issue is a biggie in my eyes.

I kept my AT&T POT for ten bucks a month so I can use it for 911 as well as the fax.  I use my MagicJack and Cell phone for everything else.

Randy, whatever a person needs to do to save money is okay in my eyes but Dave and I are not fans of using a cell phone as a primary phone line. You see Dave is in the cell phone industry and even he thinks they have a long way to go before it is as good as a land line. We can always tell when a person is using a cell phone to call us on, the quality is just not there. Because Dave came up through the Bell System in his career via Western Electric, AT & T, Lucent to Tyco Electronics I think that we would be hard pressed to drop our land line. Besides, I have "emotional ties" - HAHA to our current phone number because it was my phone number when I was a kid. Back in the time that I picked up the phone and the lady said, "number please". We did not even have a dial on our phone. I remember when we got the area code 312 back in the 60's . . . . . . . . . . I could go on and on.
