Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

I have been on antidepressants since I was 14 yrs old (I am now 48 yrs old)...so I know a little bit. I had my RNY on 2/12/08 and have gone down from 402# to 227#. I am very similar to you in some respects. After I had my surgery, I have great difficulty swallowing pills, whereas, before my surgery, I would swallow 7 at a time to get them down. I still HATE swallowing pills, but I do swallow 2 at a time. Because I had such difficulty swallowing pills for the first 6 months, I just stopped taking many pills; including antidepressants, blood pressure, cholesterol and more.
My blood pressure is more out of control than ever. As far as my antidepressants, I have done pretty good. I am presently taking (and have taken for at least 3 yrs) Wellbutrin, Zoloft and Trazadone. I am doing okay right now. I could probably be helped even better by a little more, but I am not sinking to deep depressions with what I am taking now. So Wellbutrin is fine after the surgery. The people prescribing this to me are from Mental Health...so it is fine. If you have any questions, please feel free to write to me.
In fact, I have an ongoing blog about weightloss and surgery on my myspace (Weeping Willow) at http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.blogringMe mbers&BlogringID=1017962&Mytoken=3D8F19DA-C376-4EE9-84494185 BCE0B3C7277159536 and my myspace is http://www.myspace.com/babsisforever. I have had several people from this site find me and request a blog...so this is why I did it.
The blog is basically for people who need info, have questions, interested in finding out about weight loss surgery, just want to lose weight naturally, to vent feelings about weight loss, sharing recipes and much, much more!!
I am glad that you are interested in finding out more about this. But being a person who has suffered from depression since I was 14....I know this for certain....you are not invincible as I thought I was once before. You need to start taking your meds (antidepressants) as you were before. Then see how you feel. Don't be me. I stopped taking so many meds after surgery thinking that I was "okay" now and I was very, very wrong. I made a ton of wrong decisions. Lexapro is great...so is Wellbutrin. Weigh out facts with your doc or a friend...don't just quick. It will all catch up with you. I know that for sure. Blessings and join us!!

I have started taking Zoloft just 3 days ago, so obviously no change yet, but the Dr is hopeful this one will help with several things.
I was lucky in that the antidepressent was the only drug I was on before surgery as well.
