I'm back home!
Hi everyone,
Thank-you for your kind thoughts and prayers. I got home around noon today, New Year's Eve.
Monday, I had started out feeling lightheaded basically whenever I walked around. In the afternoon, I started to have diarrhea with blood. I immediately reported this to Dr R's office. They thought is was from hemmeroids and told me to not put pressure on my behind by sitting on it too much.
I ended up laying down and taking a nap. When I got up, I still had the bloody diarrhea. Around 5pm, I went downstairs to let the dog out and to put the laundry in the dryer. I felt really woozy and sat down on a kitchen stool to catch my breath. I found myself on the floor with pain on my face. Eventually, I was able to get up and make it back to the WR. I found out I was passing thick blood clots. When my DH came home, I got a hold of a phone and was able to call Dr R's answering service. When he called back, he told me to go to an emergency room. My DH drove me to Good Sam, as I thought it was better to be at a place with experience with bariatric patients. At the ER, they took a CAT scan to make sure I didn't injure my head when I passed out. They said the cuts on my cheek and nose didn't require stitches. They put me in critical care for 23 hours, then moved me to the same floor I was on after surgery. DR R still thought the problem with the bleeding was due to a combination of taking heparin and hemmeroids. I didn't have any more bleeding problems at the hospital.
I got released about an hour before Michelle got off work, so I didn't get to see her new hair color.
I briefly saw my room-mate, who had just come out of surgery. She lives a mile or two from me, I think. I had met her the last time I had a Dr's appointment.
