Friday Roll Call!

Good morning everyone!

After a restless nights sleep, I was staring at the time, thinking I should get up if I'm heading in to work.  A few minutes later, the phone rang.  It was an automated call from the school district, letting us know school was canceled.  I checked the school district website.  It took them about five minutes past the phone call to update the news.

I did manage to get a hair cut after work yesterday.  I also had stopped in a Menards and looked at the Christmas stuff (I looked long and hard).  I wanted somethine specific, but either the Menards in Batavia was out of it or never carried it.  It got my legs all tired out though.

Not much else to report.  I'll be on present wrapping duty today.  I hope we'll get to see the family tomorrow.

If you have to head out, have a safe and warm trip.

Hello everyone

I'm not going into work today either.  I decided to take the day off I haven't taken the day off since I was sick in August.  I just don't feel like driving through all of this.  Update on my daughter.  She is so sweet.  She called me yesterday at work and told me she is taking the train home because she doesn't want me to drive in this weather.  I told her no I would get her, that I feel bad and she said that she doesn't want me coming because she would worry about my safety.  Isn't she the best.  So I'm home for the weekend.

I had my weigh in and so far I'm down 15 pounds!!!!  I lost weight during the holiday season.  I can't believe it.  I really thought I would gain weight.

For those venturing out today be safe.

Good Morning Everyone!

It was hard to sleep thinking about the drive in to work today, It looks like our area did not get too much snow. I am nervous about the ice that could be laying underneath...

I have yet to see or hear a truck plowing the streets around me. I can see 53 from my back windows and there are cars and trucks moving on it fine. So off to work I go.

Today should be nuts at work,  with many people not making it in to work - there will be fewer of us and more work than ever. People always call last minute to get their medications and want it FED EX'd, last I heard was that Tuesday's shipments via FED EX were delayed, so it will be an amazing feat to get people their medications shipped and delivered by Christmas Eve.

If only people could go to the local pharmacy and pick up this months medications, unfortunately the medications we dispense are not stocked in the typical pharmacy.

My son will fly in from Boston on Sunday, and I am so excited to see him. He moved away in August . Which means he has yet to see me since surgery. His room has turned into my closet and I have to remove all the clothes by Sunday. Most of the clothes are too big, which is a good thing.

BE CAREFUL and stay in if you can.

I hope to see many of you on Saturday's support meeting at AMBC . Hopefully it will not be canceled?

Hugs

Good morning IL friends. Well, I got to work but it was treacherous! While I was driving it was sleeting hard pellets.

Yikes, I averaged around 20 miles per hour. I left just after 5 a.m. and got here around 5:50 a.m. and I only had 8 miles to drive to work.

I put my snow shovel in the car in case I need to dig myself out. I'm not getting stuck at the hospital today!

Enjoying my hot coffee and a little time on line.

Take care and be careful if you're going to venture out this morning.

Hugs,
Lucy

Good Morning Ilse and all in the frozen state of Illinois.

From what it looks like out my window, the streets have been salted. The cars that I have seen going down my street are traveling at a normal speed. Of course, we have very icy walkways and driveways. We had a tenet calll a few min. ago. A large limb broke off the back tree and took some lines with it. This tree towers over a 2 story house. We will see the damage as soon as it is lite out.

It looks like all schools in LaSalle County are closed today. So, the kids will get an extra day of break.

I did reluntly cancell my appointment with Dr. Guskie this morning. New appointment date is Jan. 5th in Hoffman Estates. Since I was given this extra day, I will dig into cleaning the house today. Also do whatever prep work I can do for the holidays. (such as, finding serving pieces) I might even do some spicy nuts.

If you do go out this morning, PLEASE drive carefully. Stay safe, stay warm.

Hugs

Hi Lisa. So you had to cancel your appointment with Dr. Guske. I'm sure he'll have a lot of cancellations today. I cancelled mine with him 2 weeks ago and have my next one on January 23rd in Elk Grove. I don't want to drive to Hoffman.

I wanted to stay home but thought I should give it a try. So here I am. Now I wish I called in and took the day off.

One good thing is at least I don't have ice. That's worse than a lot of snow.

Take care my dear friend!

Lucy

Hi Karen, Dawn gave the receipe a few weeks ago,

Spicy nuts

2 cups mixed nuts
mix with 1 slightly beaten egg white

mix together: 2 T cinnimon
                    2 T chili powder
mix in with the nuts and egg white

bake 350 until dry (about 15 min.)

Sorry, I don't know how to make the candy coated ones.

Another easy snack, not for us, but for the kigs is:

Choc coated popcorn.

Pop up 2 bags of popcorn

mix with 6 squares of melted white chocolate, sprinkle with sprinkles.

Hugs

Good morning Illinois! I thought since I was up and I have no where to go I would pop in and see how many others are sliding there way to work. School here was canceled so I am just waiting for my daughter to bring me her little boy. I wish she could have stayed in. I will be a wreck with worry until she calls me to let me know she has made it to work. First she has to get here!  I hate ice and we sure have alot. I have broken tree branches everywhere! So my day is just staying inside with my 2 grandsons  and listen to them fight all day YEA!!!! I will have them take turns reading to me if they get going too bad!
Glad to see those who had to go out made it safe but if you do not need to go out please stay in and if you really have to go out all I can say is SLOW just drive like Lucy said 20 miles per hr and then if you do slide maybe you can stop!
Sending prayers out for safe journeys for all to and from where ever any one may need to go!
EDIT:
Daughter called and she said she called in. Now my band can relax it was feeling tight from stress. Water wasn't even going down!

Happy Holidays
Karen
