Anyone heard of of went to any of these MD for WLS Dr. Gerald A. Cahill, or Dr. Vafa Shayani
Koya, welcome to the IL board. I went in and looked at your profile and pic. I have to say I LOVE long hair. I never have been able to grow mine long or straight so I admire you.
In answer to your there are a few members of the board that pop in once in a while that have had their surgery with them or are in the process to have it like you. I would suggest that you go on the two doctor's web link via this site and see what you can find.

Hi.....I went to Dr. Cahill's seminar. I have not met him. His staff is great and I hear that he is a good surgeon. I also heard he is one of maybe two that do WLS on the southside. So with that said, I was told he's booking his surgeries into March already. I'm checking out the Kane Center on Wednesday the 17th. Have not made my choice yet. Good luck and welcome :)
I saw Dr. Shayani when he was at Loyola. I really liked him but he moved onto a same day surgery center downtown which I think he has since moved on from! Anyway, I liked him and would have had him perform my surgery but it was important to me to have it done at a hospital where I would spend the night. That's just me though. Do what you feel is right.
When I was going to Loyola doctors, I met with Dr Shayani a couple of times. He was in the process of moving away from Loyola and to DayOne Health in Chicago. He had me go through all his required testing. That is all Loyola required was testing, no meetings with other people, like a nutritionist. Then, he said he was going to submit to insurance. I never heard anything again.
At the time I was nervous about lap band surgery (all Loyola did) and I didn't follow up on it.
As a person, he seemed nice and personable.
