Hi Mary. Yes, the Glen in Glenview.

Congrats on losing 50 pounds! I am no way near that mark.

I'm sitting at my desk at work and it has started snowing but nothing is sticking yet!

Hugs,
Lucy

Good morning Monica and Illinois!

Hope that those of you who are under the weather get better soon.

Not much on the agenda today. I want to go to the resale shop today. They are having a 50% off sale. I really need to find some pants that fit and a few winter sweaters and sweatshirts. Going to the gym tonight. Before that I'm hoping to meet Georgie. She is going to the seminar at Silver Cross and we have been e-mailing each other regarding  lapband surgery.

Keep warm and keep safe out there driving around...until tomorrow....

Good morning Monica and Illinois.

Monica decided to share her cold with me, or was it Lisa's hubby...just kidding...lol

I need to do some errands today, but now I just want to climb in bed and sleep.

Sorry, but our weatherman says the snow is going north from me, so it is all yours...lol

I didn't get as much done this weekend as I would have liked.  My chihuahua is sick, and spent most of the time babying her.

My nephew and niece and their kids are moving to her parents farm in January in Vandalia, anyone up that way?  I am sure I will be traveling that way a lot.

Have a good day!

Good Morning IL friends,

I had to check twice to see that it really is Wednesday!!  I think I lost Tuesday for some reason..LOL.

Everyone seems so busy today so I am hoping for NO SNOW!!!!  Please be careful for those of you having to make any kind of long driving trips.   I live in the city limits (thanks to Mayor Daley and his residency rules!!!) so we are usually well salted and clear streets, but you never know with the city.

I'm sticking close to home today....only a quick trip out for some fabric and to make a deposit in my "Down Payment for a House" fund............and then back home to the furkids and my 84yr old mom.....she's a real pistol !!!   I do have to make arrangements with my brother who lives nearby to have him or one of his sons shovel for us in the event of snow......I can't do it due to injury and I KNOW my mom (stubborn old fart--just kidding) will be out there shoveling the minute any snow stops.

Have a great day, and stay safe!!!

Luv and Hugs to all,

Paula T

I am stopped up today but do not think I have a cold.

The home where I fixed the lift chair yesterday had a few things to kick up my allergies.  A day or two of being clogged and swollen though are worth it to see a person able to get up and down into a chair without having to call a family member or other caregiver.

Just drinking my tea and recovering today.

I will likely catch up on sermons from lifechurch.tv

So you have been forgiven?

Good afternoon Monica and the rest of Illinois!

I am working as usual, but our internet was out all morning.

I went out at lunch to get milk and bread so that I do not have to stop on the way home.  I plan to go straight home as the snow has begun.  I hope it is easier than it was on Saturday night.

I remember the snowstorms of '79 AND '67.  In '67, I was only 6 years old, but I lived in the city of Chicago and remember the snow being WAY taller than me, and above the cars!

In '79, Amber was just a baby and we went to some friends for that New Year's Eve.  We could not get back to our small house for almost a week, and when we did, the landlord had put her dobermans in the house because she thought we skipped out on the rent!  I remember holding Amber in my arms and having my feet slip out from under me.  I went down, flat on my back and smacked my head, but worse......the baby went FLYING through the air!!!!!  When I got up, she was on top of a snowpile, laughing like crazy!!!!  She wasn't even a year old and she thought it was a great game!!!!

I will be driving carefully on the way home tonight and trying to avoid all the dummys who forget that they live in northern Illinois and it snows EVERY year!!!!

Everyone stay safe!

Tell someone that you love them!

You all make me feel OLD! I was out of college in 67 and I remember  being at my in-law's in Oak Park and seeing how deep the snow was even weeks later when we arrived. And the one in the 70's was when we lived in Carbondale and we even got a lot of snow there but not as much as Chicago.

I remember a terrible snow in Jan of 71 when we lived in Omaha. It started New Year's eve and lasted forever it seemed. We had a house with a garage underneath and a driveway with concrete walls so I had to dig us out of the driveway and shovel snow over my head in order to get the car out. The walls were about 7 feet high. I never have considered even looking at another house with that configuration! The only good thing was that at the end of January we moved to Florida!

I remember the '79 blizzard.  I was 7 and I thought it was a lot of fun.  We went sledding and made snow houses (we would dig a hole into the side of a pile of snow and basicaly hollow out it out).  I also remember walking home from school (East Aurora doesn't have school buses) and the snow was so deep we were forced to walk in the streets.  Even then it was really deep.

The most recent (which doesn't compare) was the blizzard of 98 or 99.  I think we got 2 1/2 feet.  Well I was stupid enough to try driving ( I had a small Dodge Shadow) and I got stuck in the middle of the street, a half a block from my house.  The snow was past my bumper, what was I thinking???  I just walked back home.  Well I won't do that ever again.

I remember the blizzard of 67 and 79.  In 67, I was in eighth grade.  I remember taking a couple of photos from my bedroom window showing how high the snow was to the windows of the garage.  We were in Oak Park then.  Our street was midway between two major streets (Austin and Ridgeland), so we got plowed a lot sooner than the other streets around us.

In 79, we were living in Chicago.  My DH shoveled out a couple of blocks in other to be able to go to work.

Anyone remember the snowstorm we had in April of 1975 (I'm pretty sure)?  I think we got at least nine inches and Chicago traffic was at a standstill.

I left Bartlett around 2:30.  It was snowing the whole way back south, but driving was fine.  Hopefully, it will be fine tomorrow.

Keep safe, everyone!
