I FOUND MY NEW HOME...KANE CENTER ADVICE PLEASE
For me everything depends on the insurance company. I have to jump through all of their hoops. I'm still jumping. I will be done with the 6 month doctor supervised diet (required by the insurance company). I already have my cardiology, pulmonology, psychology exams done and had my medical records sent to my surgeon (documenting 5+ years of obesity).
Goodluck with everything.
Goodluck with everything.
ummm, well you will have to go through the normal process with them because they have a very specific route you need to go. I think that you have to go through with seeing the doc first then they schedule you for the rest of the professions after you get clearance from your insurance. The only reason I am saying that is because my DH had his surgery with them and so did a lot of the many of the others here on this board. Sorry to be a downer for you but they want their patients to see all of their practioners first.

Hi. I've had surgery with Dr. Guske from the same group. You will like Dr. Wallace. He took care of me on some other occasions.
I do agree with Chris. You will have to see the surgeon first and decide on the type of WLS. Usually, the paperwork goes to the insurance company first to see if you are covered, then the appointments for the psych test, psychologist, nutritionist, pulmonologist, et****ur. Actually, the nutritionist appointment is a nutrition class. You also will need to attend one support meeting prior to scheduling your surgery. Scheduling your surgery doesn't occur until all the requirements are met. So it may take some follow-up calling on your part to see that you get them scheduled close together.
My advice to you is to constantly check on your status with the Kane center staff to keep them accurate with the completion of your requirements. Sometimes you may need to call the consultant's office to get their report faxed to the Kane group. That even happened to me with the clinical psychologist's report and recommendation and he was in the same building!
Keep us posted on your progress. Best wishes! You've selected one of the top WLS physician groups for your surgery.

Ok, First let me say that insurance approval and submitting for surgury is NOT the same thing. They will "submit for approval" the plan for you to be having the surgery. This is the plan they will follow to get you to the point of actual surgery. THEN, they will submit for surgery. If you were self pay, they can fast track this, but with insurance it does take a while. But you are on the right track and you are in for a ride of your life.
