Sunday Roll Call - Let it Snow
No snow here....yet! I love the first snow of the year. I live snow flurries....but I don't love heavy wet snow....Once it starts snowing today it will be safer to stay in. A lot of people tend to forget how to drive. It makes me wonder....have you never seen snow before?
Went to see Four Christmases yesterday. It was funny....Didn't make it to see the grandchildren as they had other plans. Today, Dan and Jen are going there to make gingerbread houses with Ava and Vince. I'm making a turkey breast today with a few fixins for tonights dinner. Hopefully when Dan and Jen get here they will have pictures from todays activities.
Whatever is on your agenda for today....keep safe and warm!
Have a great Sunday!
Wendi, I agree that people drive like morons with that first snow fall. It is like everyone must learn to drive again.
Lisa, the snow is pretty, I agree but it is always a challenge for me to walk on that darn stuff. Todays is really slippery so it is not a good day for me to go out. Once we get more on the ground, I will have better traction, but right now, it is just a fall waiting to happen for me.
I got some shopping done via internet yesterday. Sure beats the stores and crowds. I am claustrophobic so I do not do well with the crowds at this time of year. I plan to do some more today if I can come up with some ideas. That is always the biggest challenge. The kids are out of the way. It is the adults that can be problems. Of course, when asked what I want, I dont really have any ideas/wants so who am I to complain?

Hope everyone has a great day and enjoys the pretty snow!

DW and I both went down one Saturday morning last winter. Friday had warmed up enough for a lot of snow to melt and then back to freezing that night. The ice was in the striped handicap access to our car which is also the walkway to cross the street. I could not believe the super nor the snow crews had not resalted that morning. DW went down first. She used to vol as an EMT and I was her driver. I went through a quick verbal check list with her and then I stepped to help her and went down myself. We were both there like turtles, on our backs and in pain. I began to laugh and DW gave me a very mean stare and then began to laugh herself imagining how we must look to anyone on the balconies above us. We went on to a meeting at Willow where one lady was very mad at me because we would not take some Advil she had. We were still not sure at that point that a trip to the ER would not be needed. We did not want to mask anything if we had to be examined. We ended up sore for two weeks but no docs for that fall.
I took a very nasty fall on a patch of ice 2 years ago and went down on my knees. Since then, I have been unable to walk without a cane and have to use a scooter at work and at the stores as I cannot walk any distance without the knees wanting to give out. I already needed a knee replacement on both knees before that and that fall just managed to handicap me further. Before that I was fine in the snow. In fact once in college, I fell on the ice and slid down someones driveway into the middle of the street and started laughing until I had tears running down my face. Now though, any fall is likely to really injure me.
