Pain question
Dee
Hi Dee,
My personal opinion is that if the doctor is giving you those meds, and you are taking them as prescribed, you are taking them under a doctor's care and you shouldn't wait until you can't stand the pain to take them.
When you are better and want to get off the pain meds, the doctor should be able to help you or refer you to someone who can.
I am on Vicodin for chronic lower back pain and neck pain (herniated/bulging discs, muscle spasms) so I understand how you feel. The thing with us wls people is that nsaid type of pain relievers can really do a number on your stoma. Research shows that opiate based drugs, when used as prescribed can be safer, as far as side effects. Probably more effective, also. (my 2 cents
