The economy sucks!!!

I'm here to vent.  Some of you may remember I was up for a promotion this month.  Well I just found out effective immediately our whole company is freezing all hiring and pay raises.  Because of poor sales in the first and second quarter.  How about freezing the executive bonuses and travel expenses!!!   I'm really bummed.  I was looking forward to this.  Not to mention the extra money, I was going to get a $5 an hour raise.   Don't get me wrong I am glad I have a job when so many have no job.  I have been working toward this for 5 years and just when I'm ready to get my promotion this happens.  Its a big let down.  Now of course my mind keeps wondering what happens if they start laying off and I lose my medical benefits.  That would mean no surgery!!!  I will try not to think about that.

I hear you about it sucking. I have been with my job for 9 years. Over the last few years sales had been slow & honestly its been so long since I had a raise that I can't even remember when it was....many years ago! But I had a job.

Then today, I get informed that we are closing down for a couple weeks at least to save some bucks & now I am going to have to draw unemployment for the first time in my life 1 month before Christmas and somehow have to find out how to pay all my bills & get my kids Christmas too.

Life sucks right now!

I knew in times like these everyone could relate.  I hope things get better for you and your family. 

I know this is easier said than done, but stay positive! How far along are you in the process for your WLS? I'm sorry you did not get your promotion, but something better is coming your way...your surgery! Good luck to you and I just wanted to tell you I'm here for you. :)

Thanks for your kind words.  I'm trying to be positive.  Like at least I have a job. 

I'm now half way through my 6 month doctor supervised diet.  I hope everything is fine at work because I figure I won't be getting surgery till March.  I have my fingers crossed I won't be laid off until then.

I am with you on that.  I have been in major shock for over a year.  I just have to keep putting one foot in front ofthe other.  I wish I could say I was coming out of it now but of course here come the holidays.  We have been living on Manna for 21 years now.
