Sagging Skin-Due to weight loss

Hi-I am just wondering if everyone who has lost a significant amount of weight is left with a lot of sagging skin.  This is one of my concerns.  I realize that it is one side-effect of RNY, but I am wondering if this has occured with everyone or if it depends upon each persons experience?

Thanks!!

Yup, I have some saggy skin! I guess its part of the package. To be honest I do not work out hard core, but I dont think that it would have helped that much anyways. You lose so much weight so fast its hard for your body to keep up with it...not to mention the mind too. The saggy skin does bother me now, but I keep telling myself its better than being severly overweight. My arms are pretty saggy and tummy too. I told my hubby that once I am down to goal and keep it off, I am getting a tummy tuck, boob job and my arms done! LOL  I would not change my RNY for anything and I am grateful everyday that I had the surgery! It saved my life!!

Best wishes,
Jill

I will take the sagging skin. It is so much better then the weight I was carring around before. A tt, arm reduction, breast reduction and a leg redo is my future. When, not sure. And it would of never crossed my mind before I had not had a lapband. Until then, I leave the short skirts and shorts in the closet, and make sure I am covered when I go out. I still look 100 times better then I did before!

Yea I got it bad, I need TT thigh lift , and the arms, I have more wrinkles then a Sharpie puppy
I am only 1 yr. out and very close to goal so I am looking into Plastic surgery,
but every ones body is different, I for one did not exercises  but I really don't think that would have help much with losing so much 183lbs in one year,
Good luck to you

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

My surgeon told me I would need tummy tuck / lift after surgery. He could see I had excess skin from weight gain of pregancies.

The thing about skin is it can only bounce back so much.

I know down the road I will likely have to have the surgery to remove excess skin, it doesn't worry me. When I get there I will deal with it. In the meantime a body shaper seems to hold me together and make me feel comfortable.

I still have many pounds to go! The feeling of being -34 pounds is awesome so far.

as the poster before said, it's part of the package.

I have seen before and afters on people that had excess skin removed, it is amazing how great the look, really it is encouraging - so check out some of these peoples profiles.

It's not just a side effect of the RNY. LapBanders and DSers get it too!  Anyone who loses a lot of weight (over 100 pounds) will have the extra skin their body kindly made to accomodate that extra weight. (Or else we would have EXPLODED when we got "too fat" for our skin suit.) LOL

According to my docs and personal trainer, there's not a lot you can do about saggy skin. Exercise such as weight lifting can help tone up the muscles a little and fill out some of the skin, but not so much that it's anyone's idea of a cure-all.

I moisturize like nobody's business on my face and neck, but I can see wrinkles where I had none before. I gratefully take this in exchange for my good health. I WILL look into plastics when the time comes, though, and probably do a TT at a minimum.

Some rare people have good genes and super elastic skin, or some just may not feel they need any work done. I envy those folks!
