New to Group
Hi all,
Just wanted to say hello to the group.
Not sure where to post, main board, grad board or here so I'm trying all. (so many choices!)
I'm just over 4 1/2 years out from RNY with Dr. Cahill in Illinois - February 26, 2004.
I lost 120 lbs, going from 284 to 160 but have been struggling with 20lbs for over a year now.
I keep putting it back on (bad food choices & too much snacking) and then taking it off (using Atkins).
I need to keep myself in check and not just use Atkins for the quick loss.
So, I've found myself here and hope to meet a few nice people to chat with and start taking care of myself again.
Nice meeting everyone! :) Trish

I think this is the best board for support on OH. We have really become friends here and have get togethers a few times per year. We stay in touch on the daily roll call as Lisa and Crystal have said. Please join us!
I can relate to the 20 pound issue. I stopped losing at 10 months out from surgery and I am now at 2 years. The last 20-35 refuse to budge for me. Although Atkins can be a quick fix, your body and brain NEED carbs to funtion properly so it is not a safe way to go. We have a memeber (Christielyons) that has been doing a fantastic job losing her regain. She may have some tips for you.
Again, welcome and I look forward to getting to know you!
A friend of mine works at Little Co. of Mary and loves Dr. Cahill. When I was shopping for WLS and still thought I wanted a RNY, I checked out his group and they seemed really terrific!
Good luck on those stubborn pounds. Some folks have had a lot of success using online tools such as fitday.com and sparkpeople.com for tracking their food intake. I haven't used them yet, so I can't comment but you may want to check them out if you thought it would help keep you on track.
Take care,
Nicolle
I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!

Good luck with losing your regain,, Keep coming and checking in everyday with our daily roll call , We would love to have you.
By the way you have done a great job, losing the weight.
Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
