Southern Illinois Support Groups

Good evening everyone,

This is the first time I have posted to the message board, but I have been reading the posts regularly. 

I wondered if anyone out there is acquainted with a support group that meets in Marion, IL?  I have heard that there is one that meets at the Heartland Hospital.  I just can't remember to call during the daytime!

Yes there is one that meets at the hospital. It is the third Thursday of the month. You can add me and I can find out more for you. I have a friend that ran it and she can tell me when it is for this month .. I think it might be the week before thanksgiving ...  hope this helps you out some .. and they dont always call you back at the hospital..  I know I have called many times .. Deena

Thank you!  I have added you to my page.  If I can find out the time, I will make sure I get home in time to attend.  I work in Centralia, so, I would have to leave by 4:30 in order to make it home and freshen up and be there by 7:00.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I have been "lurking" here for a long time.  I knew there would be a genuine spirit of support to be found.  I look forward to interacting more as I creep towards being approved for surgery.  I am waiting for approval from BCBS.  The request was just submitted last week.  Time will tell!

I also have BCBS and I did get approved for my surgery and will be having it on Nov 18th. Good Luck.

Congratulations Laura!  How long did it take for the approval process?  I think mine was submitted to the insurance last Thursday or Friday.  I don't want to drive the doctor's staff crazy.

Well I had a clause on my insurance that said I had to complete a 6 month medically supervised weight loss program which I had, but they kind of gave me the run around, however in the end it's all worth it. I had my pre-op today and my surgery was moved up to next Tuesday the 11th.

Congratulations!  I bet you are excited.  What kind of pre-op procedures do you have to follow?  You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you embark on this journey.

Actually Lisa not very much. They want me to start taking my vitamins immediately but thats it.
