Bad Choices

As most of you know, yesterday I spent the day with my girls. It started out fine, I had yogurt and 1/4 c homemade trail mix for breakfast. ( I need the crunch) Good choice 1

It was o****il I got to Yorkville. Had 1 peice of candy. Bad choice 1.

We went to lunch, had soup and salad and left the muffin alone. Good choice 2

Then it went downhill !  We went for coffee, which would of been good if  I had regular decafe, but I opt for a peppermint mocha. And if that wasn't bad enought, I had the  extra large. Bad choice 2.

Bad choice 3 was 1 scoop of mint choc. chip ice cream.

Dinner was ribs, fries and slaw. I ate 1 rib, left the bread alone, 2 fries, and 1 taste of slaw. I felt stuffed!  No problem there.

Then we got home.  Tummy didn't like the food choices, and proceeded to let me know. Everything came up. Ya think I would of learned my lesson, but no, there was a few peices of the dreaded halloween candy left on my desk. Bad choice # 4.

Anyway, today I start over. Breakfast was oatmeal with a bit of trail mix, not sure about lunch, and dinner is going to be baked chicken with veggies. Snacks will be dairy only. Plus all my water intake. Thank goodness that kind of day is far and few between.

Hugs

Hi Lisa,

As I read your post my stomach is upset with me. I made the bad choice of thinking I could have one little piece of Chinese fried chicken with sauce kinda sweet! I even spit some of it out but TOO LATE!

ugh I knew I should not eat that and yet I am kind of glad it has made me sick. It was only a matter of time when I tested my pouch. If that food would have been tolerated? I would likely eat more again another time.

Is it the time of year? we are tempted to have old favorite bad foods? This would be my pattern around the late fall. Somehow I feel stress makes me naughty when it comes to food choices.

I hope you feel better, I have to go now I don't feel so good

we are sisters in the same journey to learning how to eat right.
Hugs,
Cathy

Dont be so hard on yourself. I just posted yesterday on OH "I hate food" and got some really great input. Sometimes all we need is someone to tell us it is okay and we are only human. We all make mistakes. Lets not look at it like a mistake but a reminder of what made us overweight before surgery. This will happen again and again, but its finding a healthy relationship with food and maybe asking a very tough question to ourselves. Why are we eating this way? Sometimes the answear is what we are hiding from and continue to eat. Argh!! I am glad to hear that those types of days are far and few between. At least you can see what you felt was wrong and fix it.

Today I got rid of ALL our halloween candy! I can not have it in the hosue anymore, because I know I cant say NO!

take care and hugs to you!

Thanks Monica and Jill. I guess we all know better, but we all have to test the waters sometimes. Now today, I am a really good girl. I had the oatmeal and trail mix for breakfast, a full apple (small) and peanut butter  for lunch and chicken is in the oven. Plus, I am drinking plenty of water. I will probly have a snack later, but then again, I am not sure.

Thanks Cathy, you may be right. I am already thinking of the holidays, and all the food choices. And I know that 1, I can't eat that much (not like before when we pigged out for days). 2, I don't need or want it.
Chineese in general doesn't go down to well with me. But, mexican, just slides down.

Hi Lisa, we all make bad food choices on occasion. I know I did yesterday too. I at a bite size butterfinger. It was good and I also had two cookies. Why is it the bad stuff goes down soo easy and the healthy stuff sometimes gets stuck? That was yesterday, today is a new day. I'm starting over.

I guess I have a ways to go as my mind cannot wrap itself around getting full on that amount of food.  I was thinking about this when folks were reporting making pots of split pea and bean soups.  I went off the deep end for me this weekend with cornbread and pinto beans.  I did not go over on calories but still gained weight on the scales.

As I read your post & everyone`s replies,I am jealous. As my surgeon told me to try foods, even sugared foods. She said "you will never know what your new tummy will be able to tolerate if you don`t try,if you can tolerate it eat it,but in moderation".I had to start with mashed potatoes day 5 out of surgery because my body was severely going down. From then on I was on regular food,no pureeing, just chewed well.Sugared foods I tried in moderation just to see if my tummy would tolerate it.I am 4 months out from surgery now and can & have been able to eat what ever I want.Nothing bothers me untill my taste buds change.I overeat sometimes and my tummy gets highly nausiated but I go lay down in my room & watch tv to relax & keep my mind off it . In about 30 mins.to an hour I am fine. Not one time have I thrown up.My weight loss has been too slow.Only because of my lack of self disciplineI hate to get out & walk if I don`t have somewhere I need or want to be.So I didn`t.I walked right after surgery while I was recovering at my parents house but once Igot home that was it.But my hubby bought me a treadmill from walmart & I have started using it.I lost 4 pounds since Nov.1st down to 266.2 from 300 the day of surgery(July 9th).One good thing about my taste buds changing.which I have conflicting feelings about.

NO MORE BURGER KING WHOPPERS!!!
I love love loved those things.Doubles with cheeze.Mmmm Mmmm Mmm.But about 2 months ago my buds went wackie.I got one of my beloved whopper with cheeze, took it home, ate a little of it,GOT SO SICK I THOUGHT I WOULD DIE!(but no throwing up).Thought well maybe I ate too much of it.next day ate a little more,,GOT SO SICK I THOUGHT I WOULD DIE! AGAIN!!Gave the rest to my hubby, cried and said fairwell to my love as I watched him enjoy it to the last morsel. Now?I can`t even eat a homemade burger.Just the thought of a burger makes me want to barf.If I smell a fast food burger Imy tummy wants to turn inside out! I can eat hamburger helper, taco meat anything it is mixed with, just not a burger.Soooo, even though it`s been a slow process,I don`t regret for a moment having this surgery and would do it again in a heart beat! Just wish things would go faster & like I expected.
Have a great day all
