My Visit with Dr. Guske

Good evening IL friends. I had seen Dr. Guske this afternoon, just shy of 1 pm. Luckily, they took me - you see someone from the office cancelled my appointment, but they were able to take me anyway but my chart wasn't at the Elk Grove Village office.

I think I stayed the same but I weighed with more heavier clothes on plus had breakfast and fluids.

I told Dr. Guske about my hospitalization and he said that Dr. Wallace discussed it with him. They couldn't identify why I was having pain and felt it wasn't due to the Realize band I have.

I shared my past month experience, having a lot of slimming and not tolerating solid proteins, vegetables and fruits . I think that I had thrown up at least 20 of the past days of the month.  I told him that all the other foods - hi calorie, hi fat - the snacky foods, I had no problem in eating them and keeping them down. He said that I was too tight and removed 1/2 cc of fluid from my band.

One positive outcome since I was banded is that my weight hasn't gone up anymore. I've been fluctuating with my weight loss but at least I haven't gained anymore!

Now I have to start losing consistently and get back down to goal. I'm going to start eating my proteins, fruits and vegetables again in small amounts and with regular exercise, I should be well on my way to consistent weight loss.

I'm so excited about going to LA next Friday for OH's Halloween weekend event. I get to meet so many cool and inspirational people! Can you say pool time??? YAY!!!

So here I am again, taking a positive approach to getting myself together again. I appreciate everyone's support here.

I do miss my other friends here that are either lurking or not checking in, like Pam, Ronna and Willow.

Maybe it's time for us to have another get together before the winter comes upon us! Remember the ice storm of December 1st?

Hugs and Love,
Lucy

I sure do remember the ice storm, I live in the open country and it was cold!!!! BURRRRRR!! I hate being cold and I seem to be cold all the time now with the weight lose!!!
Glad your appointment went well since it was not scheduled!! I have had that to happen to me a few times and its frustrating!
Now with the fill adjustment maybe the weight will start going down especially with the kick boxing... You will be in those bikinis before you know it!!!
I go back to see my doc on the 6Th and I hope he gives me back 1/2cc because I went aggressive on the unfill this month the heart burn was so bad, but at this moment there isn't any thing I can not eat  I can even eat bread right now and that's not good!!! I have not lost an ounce since he took out the 1cc so we will see!!!

Have great time in LA! Wish I was going but can not afford that kind of trip at this time.

Hi Karen. I'm feeling better with the removal of some fluid. I do think I was too tight. I don't go back to the do****il December 5th. That was the earliest I could get in, boy he's sure busy.

No heartburn for me. I hated that so much. I told Dr. Guske that I thought between having the RNY and band, I think the life as a bandster is harder to live. With RNY, you don't have those issues.

Good luck with your appointment.

Hang in there. You're doing so well.

Hugs,
Lucy

I don't know whats harder to follow but I guess you would. Its not easy but I have heard some talk about the dumping and to me that's sounds nasty too!!!

Karen, I can honestly say that the band is worse. Slimming and throwing up is the worst. Dumping is not as bad.

I have had both. Slimming is like a Cujo dog episode. My sister had witnessed both and thinks the band is the pits.

So far today, I was able to keep my protein down. YAY!

I've been busy tonight cleaning the main floor and going through some of my paperwork. Now I can sit on the computer and watch a bit of TV.

I think bandsters have a harder post-op lifestyle.

Hi Lucy-
Congrats on the no weight gain! I'm glad you too had saline removed. Too tight is not good and can lead to other problems and you don't need more problems!  I'm glad you have such a positive attitude. I think that being positive is half the battle.
Hope you have a great time at the OH Halloween party. Are you going with someone or meeting others from OH there? Do you dress in costume for this party? If yes, what is your costume? So many questions, so little time......Have fun and don't forget the sunscreen!

Hi Carol. I just came back from seeing the Beverly Hills Chihuahua movie. It was cute.

I'm going alone to the event but will be meeting up with some of the people from the main board. I got a black cape with purple spider webs, a halloween hat and mask. Not sure what it is, but at least it will be festive.

I'm going to try and get some pool time in as well.

Thanks and congrats on the upcoming addition to your family!

Hugs,
Lucy

Hi Aleece. I'd love to get together with you when I get back. It's been too long. I'm working on getting myself back. When I do, I'll sure warn the new post-ops.

Give Beth my regards when you see her next.
