Thurs Roll Call
No I don't have diabetes so I am not sure about how surgeries effect it. Preop diet is very hard but remember it's all mind & will power to stay focused. It will be one of the most important diets you do though.
Which surgery are you having? I know that the rny does great stuff for diabetic patients but I have the VSG and didn't really look into the diabetes part since I was lucky enough to not have it.
Stay Strong!

Hi Laura,
I had RNY in September. My diabetes 2 was out of control before surgery. I was on metformin 1000mg twice daily and yet my numbers remained high.
In the hospital after surgery my blood sugar spiked and I was put on lantus injections twice daily.
I went home with a prescription for glipzide 5mg with instructions to take it only if my blood sugar was above 130. I did take it once, and this made my blood sugar dropped very low.
I still test twice daily and my numbers are in the normal- range.
My doctor says I am likely no longer diabetic 2 , but cautioned me the diabetes 2 could return if I do eat the wrong foods. But I don't see how I could eat sugary or high carb foods agian.
I will have the A1C blood test done next month to confirm the diabetes 2 is gone.
So within 5 days after surgery my blood sugar numbers were normal range without medications.
Best wishes to you on your surgery.
Cathy

GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE!!!!!
I can't believe they are calling for a possibility of snow showers this weekend, not ready for that yet....
Dawn...I make several trips to Wally World in a week, not real happy with the Wally World here in Morris, much smaller and not stocked most times compared to Bourbonnais's. And I love those evenings when you can just curl up with a good book or magazine without hearing "HEY MOM" and having to get up and tend to someone else. Those times are few and far between, I thought once they hit the teen years it would get easier....HA!!
Carol...I cannot wait to meet you Tuesday, I can't wait to meet all of you on here.
Monica...Waking up in a bad mood is not fun. Every now and then I do the same thing, like you I have no idea why that happens, it just does. Hope your day gets better!!!
Lucy.... I hope you get to feeling better, so you can try out those boxing gloves.
Lisa...I say VEGG!!!!!!!! Good luck on your 1 yr visit!
Janet.....Hope all went well at your Dr. visit today!!!
Annie.....Keep up with those proteins and vitamins. Glad to hear all is going good for you!!
Laura....I agree that post op diet is all in the mind. You can do it!!!
Theresa....I don't envy you having to do the laudromat thing....UGH!!!!! Hope your incision gets to healing quickly so your not so sore..
To everyone else I hope your having or had a GREAT DAY!!!!

The
to the clinic yesterday took a lot out of me I guess. I was
at 8pm last night and then back up with my legs at 10 pm. I then stayed up until I am not sure when and watched Secondhand Lions for maybe my sixth or seventh time. I really enjoy that flick. I then was
again until almost noon. I am up now but really not into anything and will be really surprised if I get a video made before the sun goes away.
