Tuesday Roll Call
Good morning Chris and the rest of Illinois!
I had my 2 year check up yesterday. The doctor made me feel better about the "not losing" thing.........he told me that maintaining all this time is an accomplishment in itself. He was pleased and told me not to be so hard on myself. I have come a long way, and have minimized my risk greatly for obesity related health issues. He also said that the BMI table is an outdated tool made up by an insurance company in 1983 using figures from the 60's & 70's. It really needs to be updated. I am going to try to keep his advise in my mind and try not to be so hard on myself.
Of course the labs were drawn and they will take a week or so to get back.
The visit with the nutritionist was interesting, as always. She wants me to follow HER balanced eating program and cut out 2 protein shakes per day. She thinks I need to give her plan a 3-4 month trial run. She says that may be part of why I am no longer losing. I try a different approach every 2-3 weeks. She says that I am not giving my body a chance to adapt. We will see. I tried to explain to her that when I add carbs back in, I gain. I am terrified of gaining any more than the 2-5 pound bounce up and down that I have had for the past 14 months. She thinks that I should trust her............
Today is Olivia's last volleyball game of the season, so we will be going to watch her tonight.
Last night, while David was out selling wreaths, a customer of his offered him a job at $8.00 per hour helping with his apple orchard. Pretty cool for a 15 year old who NEEDS an income! I hope it works out.
Gotta get back to work now. Everyone have a magnificent day!

Helloooo Illinois!
I haven't said much in awhile, been lurking though. I made a new friend, Rosemary, at Swedish Covenant's Bariatric support group. We had such a good meeting last time. All of us imitated for the leaders what a bariatric pt. looks like when food gets stuck, kind of "a blank, don't you dare touch me. I'm not moving a milimeter until this thing resides itself!"-look. I definitely felt better sharing my experiences with others in a similar boat. We had fun and I made a buddy friend.
I've been busy re-painting the first floor of our house and getting our second store ready as a "Sale Room" from now until Dec 22. Now I bound up and down the stairs without a thought to it, when before da surge, I think I used to wait until I had at least a few reasons to go upstairs.
Thanks to killer stretch band workouts, I may not have to have tummy-tuck surgery but as to those underarms, I'm not so sure. I'll keep trying to tighten 'em up though as I drop more weight.
Overall, I guess I'm pretty happy. Everyone's healthy. And I like the colder weather.
Until we meet again....

Going to the Nuts and docs can be very frustrating. They want to know what they were taught and ignore that for some of us too many carbs even in fruits and veggies is the road to weight gain.
My nut and pa appt is manana and will be even more INTERESTING this time as my usual handicapped bus was booked so I will be taking the Dial-a-Ride which means more than likely I hang out at the docs for an extra hour on both side of the appointment.

Hi everyone. I am feeling a little better today. I have to, my world doesn't seem to stop for me to rest! My Dryer broke yesterday so I have to go to the laundry mat to dry the load that was in there today. Hopefully my husband can fix it on his day off tomorrow. Then, I went to turn the heat on this morning for the first time and it wouldn't kick in...... When it rains it pours! I am goining to try to work tonight at the part time bartending job, it's good money so I hate to miss, especially with all the added expenses coming my way. I still feel kinda dizzy from not eating yet so I will try some protein shakes this afternoon and see how it goes. Everyone have a great day!

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
Hello fellow Illinoisians!!!!
I posted earlier this morning but of course it was on yesterdays....DUH!!! Its been a very very busy month and showing no signs of slowing anytime soon. Some days I'm glad I haven't found a job, especially when I'm as busy as I have been. But then again I can't wait to find a job, I'm starting to feel like a nobody, I've always worked.
I had to go to Kentucky over the weekend for a very unexpected family funeral. It gets harder and harder to come back here. This feeling will only get worse once my parents move there at the end of the year next year.
I love this weather, can't believe I had to turn on the heat when I woke up very early this morning though...UGH!!!
Well I had my first MAJOR dump yesterday, I've had a few little dumps but nothing like this one. I tried some Dairy Queen ice cream had only about 6 bites. Within about 20 minutes I couldn't hardly function, I was dizzy
, couldn't focus, stomach retched, diarrhea and of course
, so as soon as I finally made it home of we were 40 minutes from home had to pull over afew times, I fell into bed and totally crashed I can't believe I slept for 7 hours straight through, got up was still nauseated and stomach hurt, got online, checked OH and then went back to bed after an hour and slept for another 3-1/2 hours straight through. WON'T DO THAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
This weekend my DH and son and his girlfriend are heading to Arthur, Il (Amish country), to go the Great Pumpkin Patch we have been going since my son was 2, he is now 15 and still loves going. I wish one of our other 3 would get married and give me a grandbaby, I know my son won't want to keep going for too much longer, shoot this will probably be the last yeat I can get him to go. I can't wait for a grandbaby!! My baby girl (dog) Tillie probably wishes they would have one too, she hates me putting shirts and fancy collars on her, but she tolerates me. She is my baby and is so spoiled. I will have to take pics and put them on here of her dressed up. Yesterday before the dump I found a shirt for her that says "I Luv My Mom", so yes I will go back and get it today (have to)....
Well I hope everyone has a great day!!!!
Oh by the way does anyone know if the support group in Joliet, Il is tonight or next tuesday? I don't want to miss it. Since Dr. Joyce will be my new Dr.

Dave and I have been to Arthur several times. In fact I have bought some furniture at the Amish furniture store in Arcola. One being a Newport rocker (not Amish made but great quality) and the other is an Amish made ironing board, step stool, seat combo thingy. I love it. I use it mainly as an ironing board as it is in the basement by the laundry area. It is really sturdy.
If you go up to Tuscola there is a really neat old fashioned soda fountain type of place in downtown called Flesor's http://www.flesorscandy.com/ They have a really neat history and I will let you explore that. They do have SF candies and the sandwiches are pretty good. Dave and I shared a meal a few times we were there. I think that it was the grand children that reopened the candy kitchen/soda fountain. We were always treated like family whenever we went there.
At the outlet mall (little south of on the same road near the Holiday Inn Express off of the highway) there is a place called the Amishland Red Barn. They have a minor amount of retail items and then the rest is an Amish buffet. I know, I know buffet. But we went, took our time and it was really good. We have two of the light light houses that are Amish made in our yard from one of the retailers there.
In Arcola - The Dutch Kitchen is really good. They do have a buffet but you can also order off of the menu and there is a really neat gift shop. The Raggity Ann museum is neat to go to also. In downtown Arcola are a bunch of neat shops also. Rockome Gardens in the growing season is nice to go to also.
I do not have much else for you other than in Sullivan. There was/is a resale shop on the main square and an old school house that has an Amish style restaurant. But I do not know if they are still there as I could not find them on the local Sullivan web site.
