The New Me... 1 year Old

When I started this journey in Feb of 2007,in my mind I figured that I would go to the seminar, have all the testing done and start my new life in June. Then, start back to work in August. Well, that didn't happen.

My first few Dr. visits went great, no problems, all clearances cleared. Then, I went to see the cardio Dr. A fast halt was put on my progress. Either I went in for a valve replacement and by-pass, or he wouldn't clear me for lapband. So, in April of 07 I was in Alexian Bros for heart surgery. That took all summer for me to recuperate from, and I really didn't get back to the Kane Center until late summer.

I was finally cleared for lapband in Sept. and we waited for approval. I was approved within 10 days of submitting and a date was given to me.

What a ride this past year has been. I have lost 70+ lbs, started eating right, gained friends and support here on OH, I have lost 4 sizes so far, and planning on another 4,  and did I mention making great friends? I can walk  for 20 min or longer, I don't get winded, I love the way I am starting to look, and what I can now do. No seat belt problems, or not being able to fit in a booth. Not  having a problem sitting in chairs, being able to buy 18in. necklaces. Being comfortable saying I will just have a cup of soup verses an entire meal.

I feel great!  I love the Illinois board and everyone on it. It is  a family and I cannot  wait to say hello to everyone in the morning before I head for work. This is two of the best gifts I have gave to myself. My Lapband, and finding this website.

Thank you for my first year of my new life. I am so glad that I chose to remake my life.

Hugs to everyone.

I remember back when you came to this board and then the road block due to the heart issue.  I hope that I was an encouragement to you through that troubling time. I remember telling you that the surgery would eventually come but you needed to get your heart healthy first and that they wanted you in the best possible shape before you started your journey with your band. I know that you probably felt  like you had a  heart and would not see your band surgery due to the valve issue but God just closed the door part way on you and He wanted you healthier before the door would open back up to WLS.

Happy first birthday!    What an eventful trip on your journey to a new you.  It is amazing just what we have to do and are willing to do to get our surgery.  I have to agree that the people on this board are terrific.

You have done great in your first year out.  I wish you continued success.  The accomplishments are huge!  I hope the path of your journey continues to be just as successful!

Good morning Lisa. Congrats and best wishes on your 1st surgianniversary.  Reading about your WLS journey does bring back many wonderful memories for me. I, too feel that this website and the IL board has been the best support for me, and I do consider everyone my friend!

During your 2nd year, you will be going through many rapid changes, both physical and emotional. It's amazing how a small weight loss at this point, changes your clothes size so dramatically. Of course, the reverse is also true. I have experienced the latter as well.

Hugs,
Lucy

Lisa Congrats on you one year anniversary you have done a great job, and are looking great, I too love the all the people here on the IL board I don't think I could have gotten this far with out all my friends here.,
 keep up the good work,

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
