A BIG WOW

Hello my friends!

I know I have not posted much lately, just lurking.  Things have been so hectic between issues at work and trying to get through school.  We are slowly feeling the economic noose here in the household and while I am having some success in it not strangling me, it does take alot of work and energy to do and some times I just don't have either.  Work is requiring a 10 day unpaid furlough over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  They have suspended my tuition reimbursement, we will not be getting bonuses or raises.  The stock took a nasty plunge it is hard to believe that a year ago, the stock was trading for around $25  a share and on Friday it close around $4.50.  So the holidays in our house will be a little on the small side.  School increased the tuition and now my loans will not cover the entire amount so I have to pay some money out of pocket.

I am approximately 9.5 months out from surgery and I am holding at 160lbs which is 92 lbs lost.  I made my personal goal weight and have maintained it for about a month now.  If I loose more it is fine, but if not I am ok with the way I am.  I have been participating in the Presidents Fitness Challenge, and reached my first award a bronze medal.  I should get it in the mail in the next two weeks.  I am going to display it proudly on my cube wall, and my girlfriend at work is going to treat me to a pedicure.  She works out with me in the mornings.  I still have not gotten back to working out more than 3 days a week.  But, I just don't have the time to be a gym rat right now.

Now for the BIG WOW moment this weekend.  Several weeks ago I had purchased some pants for work in a size 10.  Now remind you I have not lost anymore weight in the past month, so I was a little shocked when I put one pair on and they literally fell down.  I put the belt on, and I had to move it all the way over to the last notch available.  Lets just say that those trousers are now with my friend who had surgery this past May.  I had to go and replace these pants and so I grabbed a size 6 and a size 8.  The 8's were tooo big!!!! I had to buy them in size 6!  I have never ever worn a size 6 in my life.  I had a shopping fest yesterday on the clearance racks, and while I replaced the pants with size 6, I got some pretty skirts in a size 8 for around $3.00 and some beautiful new tops for around $5.00.  I no longer have any of the old clothes in my closet that I had when I started this journey I did not even keep one outfit.  Oh the other thing that happend this weekend, is that the wedding dress I got 15 years ago and never wore (long story), but still hangs in the closet is tooo big.  I now have to figure out where I can take it, as there are no consignment shops in the area and I just do not want to give it to goodwill.

Here is a lesson for those here on the board who is freaking out over a stall.  Trust me you will lose the inches.

Well, this my update.  I would also like to say hi to all the new arrivals and I will someday update the avatar.  It is just one of those things that never gets accomplished.

Wendi, great news and hope that you have posted and given to the newbies that are recently on the loosers bench. Also a hopeful read for all the pre ops. Shopping is so much fun now. Congrats on the fitness metal also, your hard work paid off. As far as the wedding dress I would see if you can find a charity shop that takes older formal dresses. I doubt the consignment shop will take it because it is over 2 years old. Most of them will only take an item if it is a recent style and with in a 2 years window of when it was made. At least the ones in Bloomingdale and Villa Park that I know of will only do that.

What a bite on the furlough over the holidays. You have a great opportunity to build family memories with finding ways to give in a frugal and meaningful way. Maybe instead you can plan small "Staycations" that are in the area and are free but just need a short car ride to get there.

Good morning Wendi! I am so happy for you. It's the best news I've heard in a long time.

It brought back so many happy memories of my past journey. Thank you for bringing this joy back into my life. I can't wait to have those same feelings again.

Dear Wendi:

I am so glad to hear from you.  I have missed you.

Sorry to hear about the financial crunch, but I guess we are all in for some cutting back.  We just need to rally on and get to the other side.  Maybe an exercise in being frugal will be good for a lot of people.

Congratulations on the WOW moments!  I am still at the same place I was at 10 months out, so it is great to hear of someone else doing so well.

Try to stop by more often if you can, I love to hear from you!

Tell someone that you love them!

Wendi, I am SO proud of you!!  congrats on the weight loss and feeling great.  I am in a stall right now and it's killing me, but I know it too shall pass.

We are also feeling the crunch of the times with money and I have NO idea what we are going to do for Christmas this year.  Tyler and Jacob really want texting on their phones and so maybe we will add that and have that be a present.  I just don't know.  Hang in there sweetie!
