This is some crazy stuff

Ok, my paperwork was faxed to care allies who is the company that does precertification for my employer. Of course I have been anxious to find out if they have it and if it is in review. So I called them last week and they said they didn't have it. I then called BCBS who said they received a 49 page fax, but that it should have went to care allies and not them. They also said they would not forward it there for me, but they sent a letter to the surgeons office letting them know where it should go. Now keep in mind I know this office very well and their insurance people know their stuff, so I found it very strange that they sent it to the wrong place. So I called to the surgeons office to let them know that it should be sent directly to care allies. I was informed that they did sent it to both, but they would re-fax everything to care allies again. So I waited a week and called back to care allies today. They once again told me they did not have it......I said to them that it was sent and they need to look for it, so the girl put me on hold, and came back and said they did not have it. Now they never asked me for my insurance ID number, only my social security number. Anyway after going back and forth, I said I would call the surgeons office again, at that point she gave me the fax number and then said " thank you for calling and you have a good day MS. MOORE......Well this threw me for a loop because Moore is my maiden name...I said to her, My last name is not Moore, I have been married over 2 1/2 years and BCBS knows this, as all my ID cards and eob's are under my married name. She then proceeded to tell me I was listed as single.....I asked her why they did not have my information from BCBS...She told me BCBS does not update any eligibility information with them.....Well I carry my spouse on my  insurance and BCBS has been paying the bills for over 2 years. My spouse also works for the same company..So now I am thinking, what if Allie got sick, and had to be hospitalized, they would have never been able to authorize it if they didn't have the info, and we could have been stuck with a bill....well thank goodness Allie is healthy. I then came back down to earth and realized this was the reason they did not have my paperwork. So I asked her if this could be the reason. She said yes, if they could not match my name because they don't use ID #'s they use social security number, that my paperwork was more than likely discarded........Well to make a much longer story short, they fixed my name, the surgeon re-faxed, I called to verify, and they have it........2 weeks wasted due to something that sounds absolutely asinine to me.

Thanks for listening to me vent

Oh My Goodness!!!

So they just discard anything that does not match up with their old outdated info??? That is the worst customer service!!

You think they would attempt to contact surgeon's office or you and verify information!!

Well good for you that you persisted and hopefully now the records are straight.

Hang in there, it's like a wild ride until you get approved, as you can now see.

Maria I do hope the rest is easy and soon you get word from the APPROVED!

hugs,
Cathy

Maria, you deserve a metal for being able to keep a sense of humor about this flug-up. Your approval will be coming, they wouldn't dare deny you after this.

I gotta keep a since of humor, otherwise this whole process would drive me nuts. I did send an email to our corporate benefits person just to let her know about this craziness.  Hopefully you are right about them not denying me, but if the do,they better watch out cause I'm coming full force after thier butts
