help please!!
I haven't been on here in a while so hi!
As most of you remeber hopefully. I have started a diet with a nut, my surgen and behavioral health specialist. I did really well for the first week and then i slipped up. I am a carb junkie, love my bread pasta, rice potatos and i can only have them once a day and it can't be any white food. the hardest part with that is the once a day thing, i have switched to whole grain, i don't eat bread at all any more, i hardly eat pasta, and i have cut back tons on my crackers. i am supposed to be eating 6 times a day, i can remember to eat at most 4 times a day. I can't eat any sugar, which i have been fine with so far excluding the very rare cookie. im having a hard time finding different ways to get my protien in. i eat tons of chili (and to be honest i am sooo over chili) I tried the shakes and protien bars my nutritionist offers, and they are awful the shakes make me gag and the bars are way too sweet for me and hurt my teeth. I have just today went and bought sugar free carnation instant breakfast, but i can only have 4oz of milk a day. has anyone ever mixed it with water? Or does anyone have a GOOD tasting shake they use that is water based? I would apreciate any input on new foods/recipies to try different shakes? it would be wonderful.
thanks bunches

I am with Wendi on the EAS. My DH and I drink them also. NOW, I do not know if they are the same as what she gets. We get ours at Sam's by the case and they only carry the chocolate. They have 17g of protein, 0g sugar and 110 calories. They are the best tasting premixed drinks that I have found. You can also try to get them at health food stores, GNC or Osco. They usually come in four paks at those stores so you can try them and if you do not like them then you have not lost too much money. You can get some different powders at the health food places like The Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and give it a try. EAS does have them in powder form also.

Chris,
yep, these are the same ones. How much is it for a case at Sams?
I usually by the Chocolate fudge at the Commissary for $4.29 and the Dark Chocolate and Cafe Carmel at Woodman's for $6.99
I am still trying to find someone locally who works at Abbott, so I can purchase them that way. But, I have not found anyone yet.

Hi Casey!
Everyone's taste is different, and after surgery, some tates change, so it can be a difficult process to find what will work for you. I will say that I NEVER mix any of my protiens with milk. I am not lactose intolerant, I just don't want the extra calories.
What I did to find my favorites was order samples from different sites. I hear that Unjury will send (maybe free?) samples (www.unjury.com). Also VitaLady has samples of everything that she carries (www.vitalady.com). www.bariatriceating.com also has a sample package. I also think that you can go to the different company's web sites and see if they have samples available.
I now get all my protein from www.bodybuilding.com. They have the best prices that I have found. Although they do not have samples, they gladly take back anything that you do not like within 30 days of purchase. I had to do that and they were super easy about it. This is also a great site to see all the different (seems like hundreds) of proteins available and you can search by criteria, such as less than 10 carbs, under 120 calories, etc.....
I ordered all my samples then created a spreadsheet to track how I felt about them as I tried them. For example, I ordered every chocolate that VitaLady carried, then compared them until I found the one I liked best. Same with vanilla and other flavors.
I LOVE making different shakes using sugar free syrups too.
Experiment and have a great time. You WILL find something you like, and maybe you will become addicted, like me!
