Thoughts of a 1 year old!

WOW… I just can’t believe that a year has gone by already! Happy 1st Birthday to ME! The NEW ME! 1 year ago tonight I sat and prepared myself to go into the hospital in the morning for my Gastric Bypass Surgery (RNY) I remember all the thoughts I had as if it were yesterday. This was one of the biggest decisions I made in my life so far. I’d have to also say one of the BEST… I will have my official 1 year weigh in tomorrow… So far I have lost a little over 150 POUNDS!!! Starting at 427 pounds October 2nd 2007. This choice has given me freedom, it has given me movement, it has allowed me to come out of my cocoon and become the butterfly that God has created me to be… I am a new creation! My journey has only just begun! I still have so much more to get out of my tool, my Gastric Bypass has not only saved my life by helping me eat to live and not live to eat… We found a “cyst” the size of a grapefruit on my right ovary last October in a CT scan that we were watching… We were going to remove it as long as it stayed the same when I was ready for skin removal… In August 2008 we did another CT scan and found another “cyst” on my left ovary the size of a large orange… We had done a blood test called a serum 22 which I had “thought” came back OK… These are not “cysts” they are tumors… I have tested positive for ovarian cancer and will be having a full hysterectomy on October 27th 2008… Dr. Guske will be assisting with this surgery which is comforting…. The Gastric Bypass saved my life twice! If I had not had this surgery, I would not have had the CT scan, and we would not have found the “cysts” nor would I have lost over 150 pounds to be healthier to now have this surgery! I am so thankful that we have an ALL knowing God! God is SO good! I know I am in good hands, if you are reading this please say a prayer for me and my family… Please pray for the Dr’s that will be doing my surgery, and pray for my recovery… I have a wonderful support system… My family and friends will take good care of me… I have a wonderful church family… I have a wonderful support group family… I am very blessed and loved! Thank you SO much to everyone who has been there for me, I love each and every one of you! Thank you for sharing in this past year with me… For all your encouragement, kind words, and compliments it has really helped me through! In HIS love, Jenn

Good morning Jenn! Happy 1st year surgianniversary!!!

WOW, your pictures sure tell the story. You've done extremely well in a year. I'm sure that your family is thrilled for you and Dr. Guske as well.

I would take a camera with you for your visit and ask to have a picture taken with him. I've done that and have it sitting on my desk at work. I can remember how happy I was on my first year anniversary.

Sorry to hear about the ovarian cancer. I pray for you and the skills of your docs. I'm sure it's comforting to have Dr. Guske there. Are you having it done at Alexian Brothers or St. Alexius?

Please keep us posted.

Again, congratulations on your awesome success this first year. It only gets better and better.

Hugs,
Lucy

Jenn, What a difference a year made in you. Can you even think of what you will look like in another year? I think you will be one hot mama.

My daughter just had a compleate in August. Same thing, tumors. But, luckly they weren't cancerous. You will be fine, and my thoughts are with you and your family.

Big Hugs
