I'm currently at a bmi of 36. something and have basic comorbities nothing really really life threatening, but that is, I believe because I am young. I'm 23. I feel like I've seriously tried EVERYTHING and cannot loose this weight, I've always been overweight but ever since I had my daughter I just ballooned and can't go down. Anyways, everyone else here seems to have been way "worse off" (a horrible way to put it, but you know what I mean, NO offense) then I pre-op. Do I really have a chance at surgery? I've filled out the UIC online assessment and am waiting to hear back, I don't really have hope though. Weight is ALL I think about, it's SO hard. ANYONE else where I am or were you???

Hello

I don't have your problem, my BMI is at 50+.  I can tell you my insurance will cover WLS for people with a BMI between 35-39 if you have two exisisting comorbidities.  I don't know what your insurance will cover.  if you are self pay then there should be no problem.  I know every surgeon is different but my surgeon will consider WLS with people with at least a BMI of 35.

I know this wasn't much help.  Good luck.
