Sunday Roll Call

Good morning rain soaked IL from wet WI. We got rain up here yesterday but not like in the Chgo 'burbs. I got a call from my niece that lives down the street from us at about 1030am yesterday telling me that the water was ten feet from my front stoop. I told here how to get into my house and she checked our basement and we only had a little seepage. We have a small leak by the furnace chimney. I called my work and employees were being called in to sand bag. I said not me I am 3-5 hours away. One of my neighbors called me at about 8pm and said the water was still up but the rain died down until today when you are to get more. The bad, bad thing is that our sewage treatment plant was under water as it is right on Spring Brook and that creek dumps into the famous Salt Creek that always overflows.

Dave and I are still getting in our walking and walked about 7 1/2 miles yesterday even in the rain. We had our rain gear with us and did fine. We met up with Donna S from the Kane Center last night. Her daughter and SIL plus his brother were with also. We had a lot of fun talking and hearing family stories. Including a story of how Donna almost ran out of gas on the way up on Friday. Today is the Wo Zha Wa parade. This is a town that you can put your lawn chairs on the edge of the street, leave them there for hours and they will not be moved when you come back. This town is alive with people even with the weather not being real great.

Hope you all have a great day and do not get too much rain. Hopefully the forecasters messed up a little on what is coming your way. Dave and I cannot remember if this rain was predicted or not. It is a little soon after the hurricane for all that rain to get there.

Christine

Good Morning to all -
Today will be a day of cleaning and working on the basement.  I think this time, the carpet is coming up.  It's been wet one too many times.  Calvin will be working so it pretty much falls on me.  I will do the best I can.  I still have to get someone out to check out the leak we have in the master bedroom.  Oh how I hope it is minimal.
I had orientation yesterday with Outback Steakhouse.  It went great.  I learned a lot about the history of Outback and they really seem to treat their employees well.  I'm excited.

Have a great day everyone.

Christina congrats on getting the job at OutBack. Which one? Its my son-in-laws favorite place to eat! So its nothing for him to call me and we all just head north to go to one! Ours here closed down about 5 yrs ago. The closes one is down in Bloomington. We usually rather come north because the shopping is better!
Hope your leak is min too. Don't work too hard!

Good morning Chris, and my IL family-this week-end sure has been wet and wild!  So many flooded homes and basements!  Connie's family and Eilleen have been in my prayers.  And Christina too!  Hope everyone else is OK.  How was the soiree w/the dreaded MIL Dawn?  Monica, hope you kick major butts on your interview-just be your wonderful self and you'll do just fine.  Your empathy for critters is bound to radiate!!!  Eddie and I both have colds, so we are laying low this w/end-I am so fuzzy headed that I forgot to put my pain meds in my case so I am having a full blown flare of the Paget's.  It is really trying my patience-I hope the pain management people have something up their sleeves!  The weather guy just said we are going to get hit by the remnants of Ike today-everyone stay safe.  Big hugs-Janet K

Good morning!
Another rainy day here in WI. I think it is going to stop this afternoon which is good, I would love to take a walk. It has been a week I have been so busy and I hate doing the elliptical inside (but I do).

Today will be a lot of cleaning and resting. Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Good Morning Illinois. I think that I will be staying in today. I really have no place to go and with the rain, again. So, I will cook up some stuff for the week, and get ready for another work week. I also want to work on my latest rug. I already have the next one planned. That one will be a housewarming gift for a co-worker.

It looks like the whole state is still wet.
I need to start exerciseing again. I really have fallen off the wagon the last month or so.

Stay dry.

Hugs

Well Christine glad to hear you are still having fun in the rain! I went to our outdoor mall yesterday and I tell ya I was drenched. I loved it though at the mall because it was not crowded. I had a coupon from Yankee candle for votive candles for 1.00 eash so I went and got 24 for the fall season. I love the smells of things baking in the fall and this way I get the smell w/out the work, or the calories!
Stay dry and enjoy the parade. Our little town here is thta way in August we have what we call Old Settlers Days on on the Sat of the festival we have a parade and ppl put their chair out on the street early in the am since the parade starts at noon.

My basement so far is dry but yesterday there were cars stuck in the flooded streets of Peoria. I heard one report where off 74 to University St there was enough water to cover this poor guys car up over high way so his car stalled and he had to get out and hope not to get hit. Today is supposed to be the end of the rain! It better or we might need to build an Ark!

As far as my plans for today its cleaning, the time to move the furniture around and shampoo the carpet its smells musty from the humidity! Thats about it!

Good Soggy Sunday Morning!

I cannot believe how much rain we are having.  We got around 6 inches yesterday and it looks like another 4 inches or so today.  The Illinois River is predicted to be 10 feet above flood stage by tomorrow morning and that is above our water treatment plant pond.  Ugh!  Dont even want to go there.  I have not ventured to look in my basement.  I dont want to know.

My poor outdoor cat is probably totally miserable.  My neighbor has a huge motor home that she usually craws up under so I know she is able to stay dry but she has to get wet to come and eat.

It is a good weekend to hole up indoors.  I still do have to venture out to the grocery store.  I am almost out of cat food and they will be very vocal in their protests if I let that happen.

Stay high and dry.

Hi everyone! Hi Nancy!
Yeah, our outdoor cat is all pooky faced 'cause he can't go outside. Both of our cats are over grooming themselves out of boredom, which means-  Surprise! hairballs underfoot. At least our basement is dry this year after paying good money to have the pipes routed out from the house to the street. I'm scared to call one friend who I know probably has a disaster in her basement. But I will.
That's it for me. I too need to walk or something since lounging this much probably isn't too good for me flabby ol' self. Later, gators....
