Tuesday Roll Call

Good morning Illinois!
Some nice person at Paul's meet 'n greet told me about a post surgical support group at Galter Life Center (Swedish Covenant Hosp) that I am GOING TO TONIGHT! Finally. I hope it'll give me the oppty to answer some of my questions such as when to take my iron. It says 'when my stomach's empty', but how do I know when it's really empty? I take my Prilosec first thing in a.m. Could I take them together? Well, you get the idea.

I've been working hard lately on photographing our latest shipment of 75 rugs and uploading them to our website. Also, started going back to Keller's martial arts a few blocks from where we live. I'm just doing strength training with those stretchy green bands with handles; it may sound easy but it's not. I've lost a lot of muscle in two months. The instructor there keeps inviting me to go to kickboxing as well but I keep ignoring her because I don't know if on 600 calories a day I should do that yet. At least, I think I should get some advice before I do. It's all a bit confusing, what to eat, when, how much to exercise, when. As I said, I hope tonight will be the additional support I'm looking for.

oh yes, and with this weather change, I caught a cold aaachoooooooo!

Hi Nina!

I can tell you what I do about iron and vitamins that works for me:

Iron when I first wake up, at 4 am with vitamin C (500 mg--for absorbtion) even if I just get up to use the restroom and go back to sleep.  That way, the tummy is truly empty.  Iron does not work and play well with others....ANY others (except for the vitamin C).

Then, when I REALLY wake up, or after my shower (if I stayed up to exercise at 4) I take:
B12 sublingual (1000 mg)
B-100 Complex (split, so it is smaller)
Chewable multi-vitamin
**probiotic**  optional--you might not need these
**A, D & E**  optional--you probably do not need these
I take these in the car, on the way to work with 24 oz of water.

At least 2 hours later, I begin my Calcuim Citrate and Vitamin D:
(I am low on vitamin D, so I take an additional 1000 mg capsule with each dose of 500 mg calcium CITRATE.)
I take 500 mg Calcium CITRATE every two hours four times for a total of 2000 mg Calcium Citrate.  (I use a chewable form that also has a bit of magnesium and vitamin D)--I get them at VitaCost.com).

Then, before bed, I take another chewable multi-vitamin, vitamin C (500 mg)
 **2-3 stool softeners, probitic, magnesium oxide, A, D & E**

The point is to separate the iron from everything, and I separate the calcium also.

I hope this helps........

Tell someone that you love them!

Morning All!

Thought I would check in on the message boards today.  It is a chilly and bright morning and I just feel full of energy today!  I am about a week away from my Lap Band Surgery (September 19th) and am so anxious!  Of course I'm a little scared too but the support I have around me keeps me feeling secure.  I've never had any type of surgery before or ever been in a hospital so this is all a bit scary.

Well, really not a lot happening with me today.  I'm thinking since I have no plans of going to see a matinee movie.  I hope everyone has a peaceful day and ends their day with a smile!

Take Care Everyone!

I'm still working toward getting the Lap Band, I can't wait.  My surgeon told me that Lap Band surgery is similar to gallbladder surgery.  I had gallbladder surgery and it was not so bad.  The pain I had from surgery was gas pain, from all that air they pump into you.  It was about 2 days of gas pain and then just soreness.  I was back to work in 9 days.  Regardless, I think I will still be nervous.

Good Luck with your surgery and weight loss!!!

Good morning to all,
We finally got our power back on this morning.  It went out at about 9:00 last night, a transformer blew.  They came this morning at 8 and replaced the whole thing.  The transformer pole was in our yard, needless to say...all of the heavy equipment tore up all of our grass and garden.  But I got power!!!  It's now 10:15 and I am enjoying my first cup of coffee, mmmmm... I have an appointment with my "blood doctor"  later this morning to get my iron checked and schedule a day for my iron infusion.  Boy, I can really tell that I am due for a refill!  I hope that everyone has a great day.

Hi Paul and friends,

Things seem to be moving along well for my daughter, she is happier than she has been in a long time. so maybe I can get my life back to some kind of normal. That is the plan. Today I wil get back to working my food plan.  DD still will need us to get the girls to and from school but that is ok. We see them more that way, we're just not used to being on the road by 7:15 in the am.  But we will adjust. Tuesdays & Thursdays the youngest Samantha is here, but she is in the "helping" stage and that is fun, and of course we do "Nana School" when she is here. Today we are working on printing her full name not just  "Sami". She and Papa are baking cookies right now  for their house.

It is cool here today, I think only supposed to be a high of 63. Brrrr, got the "new" size 20 real jeans on, not stretchy ones. They feel weird!

Paul, Thanks alot for the protein powder this has been a life saver for me

I'm glad to hear that life is settling down a little for you.  You and your husband a great folks and deserve some peace!  As do the kiddos.  I've actually switched protein powders!  The new one is fairly close in numbers to the pro tech 24, but taste a little bit better.  It's a buck or two more in the 2 pound size, but it's $4.00 cheaper in the 5 pound size.  It's called Dymatize Enterprises Elite Whey.  It's $24.95 for the 2# and $39.99 for the 5# at Vitamin Shoppe.  I've only tried the vanilla.  The protein and carbs are 24 to 3 which is basically the same as the pro tech 24.   I certainly wouldn't throw away the Pro Tech in favor of the other stuff, but all things being equal, the taste is just a little more pleasent.
