Thursday Roll Call
Hi to all my friends!!! Things have been crazy around here! Maddie is loving first grade and she is in tumbeling and cheerleading right now. She is cheering at a football game in Belvidere Friday night. Boy do they start them young here!!!
I have been fighting head hunger and the scale is not moving. The 20th of this month will be 6 months and I am happy overall w/ the weight loss. I went out alot last weekend and alot of people made comments how good I looked and made me feel really good. One guy asked where the other half of me went? That was really nice, but I have a long way to go. I need to up my water and start to lift weights. My body needs change when I workout.
I hope everyone has a great day and be glad it's raining!! We need the rain. My poor grass was really crunchy!

DW and I are past most of that now as we left our youngest in Houston. Funny thing had been off to college for two years and was out of resident college at the time we moved but living the life of friends to the point that we only saw her about three days out of a month at the most. When we said we were going to move we ended up seeing her every day and most nights. Now she claims we deserted her although staying in Texas was her choice.
We have three and the other two are married and we have seven grands.
That youngest one was also a cheerleader but of the competetive kind. Her eight grade crew won Nationals and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Dance and Cheer Competition so I am one of the few proud Dads who can say his daughter took the fifty yard line of Texas Stadium at a Cowboys/Redskins game.
Tomorrow will be my next weigh in here at home. I have had fewer meal replacements this week. I keep up with my foods on Fitday and it says I on target to hit 490 but I do not feel like I am.
Exercise is a really funny thing when trying to lose weight. When I was younger I exercised tons and always noticed a weight gain when either beginning training or going to a more stranuous program. Taubes speaks to thisi n his book Good Calories, Bad Calories. Dr. Gus at the Kane Center also spoke to this at the seminar I attended. Folks who begin or upgrade exercise programs need to be aware of this and be psychologically prepared for their weight going up or sideways.

Tell Maddie "Good Luck" tonight. I'll bet she looks SOOOOOO cute in her outfit.
They really DO start them young out there. Does she have to cheer for all games, or is this one something special? (At our school, they have camps for the younger girls, then they cheer only at a game or two.)
Either way, have a great time.....I will hope that the rain stays away for both of us!
Paul: I still have alot of trouble wth all different kinds of food. It's never the same 2 days in a row for me. Somedays I feel absolutely bulemic! Just hang in there and push mushies for awhile.

Good morning Paul and Everyone!
The rain was nice today; I could hear the slow drizzle and it helped me sleep in for once.
Today I am seeing Dr Kane midday, and I will be going to work after, which means late day at the office for me, I am fast using up my PTO with the many appointments, but that’s how it goes.
I am wondering what you would advise one to buy before surgery?
Yesterday I spent time with the Nutritionist. I took off from St. Alexis to Meyer’s to stock the pantry for my new way of life. Really I was able to skip most of the grocery store! This shopping trip was like no other before, do you remember shopping for all liquid / soft food stage?
Wish everyone a wonderful day, maybe the sun will come out?
Nancy I hope the shots help you! And to Dawn – Sorry your Liv is not feeling well, hope she is on the mend soon. Crystal your journey is on its way whoooo hooooooo

I am drinking water from my 32 oz St. Alexius Hospital mug which I bought for a dollar at Seller's Grocery in Houston two or three years ago. You can see it in my you tube video.

Does not look like embedding will work.
Cute cartoon a friend from Houston sent me at the bottom.

Hi Randy,
That is also my Meijer , My son worked there in security. He rolled out of bed put on anything and was off to work. blending in with the shoppers was key to catching the shopliffters. That store kept him busy. They have decent sales and I do like to shop very late.
The Illinois board has the nicest people,I cannot wait to meet so many of you one day. In the mean time I appreciate the PM's and replies. Everyone is so helpful, it takes the edge and worry off the very big event. ( surgery that is)

I am just wondering because I just might be able to stop by for a visit. I'll be leaving town on Sunday with Pam S. on a cruise and will be home Sunday night of the 14th.
If you want you could PM me the info.
You will be fine as you have one of the best docs who has tons of experience! I know Dr. Kane professionally as well. You are about to embark on the most exciting life style change journey of your life!! Congratulations.
Hugs,
Lucy

I'm a newbie to the Illinois boards, I have been trolling the main page for months now. I am getting gastric bypass from Dr. Joyce on September 15. So that means I am in the midst of the dreaded pre op diet. This is Day 4, and for the most part I have been doing alright, I have slipped a couple of times. My slips include some high protein trail mix, some peanut butter, and a few chicken strips. I have managed to lose 6 pounds, and each day, I try to reaffirm my dedication to 2 protein shakes, 64 oz of water, and 4 oz protein with 1/2 cup of non starchy vegetables. I just get so tired mid morning and mid afternoon, and need something to give me some energy. Nightime is the worst for me, at least after my son goes to bed. I have tried to find something to keep my hands busy so that they aren't doing bicep curls to my mouth
