Can anyone refer a plastic surgeon in the Chicago area?
Hi -
I had my surgery last year in Indiana and am now thinking about the plastic surgery to rid myself of the shar-pei skin I've developed.
Can anyone recommend a good plastic surgeon in the Chicago area? I'm in the west burbs but for the right doctor am willing to go anywhere in the area.
This is something that I don't feel comfortable just picking a name out of the phone book or off the web........
Thanks,
JLynn

JLynn,
I haven't had any plastic surgery or even wls for that matter yet, but I went to UIC in Chicago for a consult on abdminoplasty /panniculectomy and saw Dr. Mark Grevious. I really liked him so at some point I'd go with him for the surgery. He came highly recommended to me by my pcp. My Back Surgeon thought if I had abdom surgery then he could fix my back sooner, but Dr. Grevious said I need to lose lots of weight first.

I know a few people who have loved Dr. Lawrence Zachary at U of C. He is on my very short list for my future needs!
Here's what OH has on him:
Dr. Zachary, a world-renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has a special interest in body contouring after weight-loss surgery for morbid obesity, is the Medical Director of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Program at Weiss Memorial Hospital and is Associate Professor of Surgery at The University of Chicago.
Because of his interest in meeting the unique needs of the individual who has had weight loss surgery, Dr. Zachary developed the first post-op bariatric and reconstructive surgery support group in the Chicago area and attends every meeting. This new support group helps to address patient concerns with up-to-date information with trained professionals in their fields, along with patient-to patient interaction.
According to Dr. Zachary in the reconstructive surgery and body-contouring field, new and innovative techniques are being developed for the post weight-loss-surgery patients who want to rid themselves of the extra skin that is left after losing 50, 100 or more pounds.
? It is a pleasure to see the joy that patients experience following body contouring after losing a massive amount of weight.?

Hi JLynn. I, too had multiple plastic surgery procedures by Dr. Madry. He was recommended by my surgeon.
I've had a lower body lift, thighplasty, brachioplasty, breast augmentation and facelift. Oh yes, some liposuction as well. I have been pleased with his work.
Chris B. gave you his information.
If you have any questions, please feel free to PM me.

I went to support group last month and he was there speaking and he seemed to really care about his patients alot. He showed us pictures and even had one of Dr Rosens patients there that had PS 5 weeks before and with a TT she was moving around really great and she looked great too! Before you have anything done though besure to research the doc you choose.

Will try to get into some of the others too before making a final decision but I already have a consult appt with Dr. Madry next month.
I appreciate the referrals! Only someone else walking in my shoes would understand.....andy you all do.
What a ride this WLS journey has been..... Had my surgery in May of 2007 and if someone would have told me 2 years ago today what my life would be like now... I'd have thought them crazy.
THANKS!
