Here's how I make pulled pork:

Mix 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup chili powder and 1 tablespoon ground cloves.  Rub all over a 6 pound pork sholder and place in refidgerater over night.  Then place in a smoker for 16 hours on low heat.  If you don't have a smoker, you can cook in an oven for 12 to 16 hours at 250 degrees.  Then let cool and pull the meat apart with your hands.  Pull off the fat and disgard.  I then mix in BBQ sauce.  I use Sweet Baby Ray's and I put about 1 and 1/2 cups but to tell you the truth, I do it by eye and sometimes I like it more saucy, sometimes less.  Don't worry about the sugar, in the end it comes out to very little in a serving.  Artificial sweetners just don't work for this one!

Enjoy!

Paul,

Can you use pork tenderloin for this?  I have 3 of them already and the boys LOVED your pork, which is amazing for Jacob since he's very picky about eating meats.  lol
thanks!

I suppose you could, but I would cut the time down to 4 or 5 hours.  Tenderloin is a soft and rich meat that you don't want to dry out.  The whole idea of pulled pork is to slow cook and break down a fairly rough cut of pork.  That's why sholder is the common meat to use.  But the flavor would still work on tenderloins.  I use this rub on ribs as well, and I only smoke them for about 6 hours.

Thanks.  I think I'll stick with the pork shoulder then, Jacob said it needed to be just like yours!  lol

Paul,

My husband and son loved this too!! Thanks for recipie, we dont have a smoker but I can slow cook it.  I tasted it and it was soft enough for me to chew and swallow with no problem, I wish I could have had a whole sandwich!  How about a crock pot, does it work in there?
