Good Morning Illinois!  We've made it over the hump and we're on our way to a great weekend!  Saturday is looking like it will be warm and dry for the meet and greet.  I've had many positive responses and it looks like there will be a large crowd.  It also looks like there will be a great balance of really yummy foods.  I plan on smoking my pork for at least 12 hours for the pulled pork, so it should be nice and tender.  I stepped on the scale this morning and I'm down another pound!  That makes two for the week.  Yippy!!!  I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Good morning Paul and Illinois

Paul  I am sure looking forward to meeting everyone Saturday.  It is nice of you to do the hosting!  Do we need to bring our own lawn chairs?  I think I can rustle one up to throw in the car.

The weather looks like it is going to be hot and rainy today but then nice for the weekend --- yeah!  Saturday will be busy for me.  Besides the meet and greet, we have my great nieces' 5th birthday party.  I haven't gotten to celebrate her birthday for several years so am looking forward to it  I talked to my nephew last night but times are still up in the air.  So may have to cut out of the meet and greet after a few hours.

Hope everyone has a great day and am excited to finally get to meet many of you on Saturday!

Good Morning IL family,

Sounds like it will be a great day on Saturday.  We will only have 2 kids with us though, I totally forgot Tyler has a birthday party to go to, so my ex will take him after his football game and deal with that so we can get to Paul's.

Today, Tyler is getting braces put on.  His appt is at 11:30am and so I will have to pull him out of school for about 2 hours, he will only miss lunch and world history though, so that's not too bad.  The Dr did say he would be sore today and for the next few days.  I hope it's not too bad for him.  He's very excited to be getting them.

Since that's right in the middle of the day, after I drop him off, I will be bringing in an appliction to a vet clinic by his school, stopping quick to return something at MC Sports and then home for Austyn to get home.

I have been studying for my first set of finals that I have to take very soon, I am so nervous about them...I don't remember a lot of the stuff and I have to take 7 tests in 1 day!!  3 of them are closed book and the rest are open, but it will still be very hard I am sure.

I hope everyone has a great day!

I had braces put on when I was 27, so here are a few suggestions.

Have him take tylenol to fight the pain.  Take it before any tightening appts.  Also, make sure to have soft foods and soup available for eating that day and possibly the next day.

Make sure to get the wax to apply as the braces will at first cut up the inside of the mouth.

He needs to brush his teeth after every meal, it is gross to have food hanging there and they are not good left overs either.  So some travel size toothpaste and toothbrush for his book bag is a must.

No apples, carmel, popcorn, or chewing on hard candy as they will cause things to go POP and wires to break.

Oh yeah, and for fun, they have the color ties that are the little bands that go around the brackets to hold the wire.  He can get them  in the school colors, or any color to correspond with upcoming holidays.  I would have orange and black for holloween.

Actually Wendi, the braces Tyler is getting are called the Damon System.  They don't get tightened the way the older ones do, they have these little clips that slide down the wire pops out.  The downside, he doesn't get any other color but silver...LOL
He will have those dreaded rubber bands also to help pull his jaw forward.  It's very neat how they explained and he will only need them for 18-20 months.

Thanks for the advise about food too, I have no idea what he will be able to take with for lunch tomorrow, they said he would be sore.  I have Advil in my purse for him to take as soon as he's in my care and not the school's.  lol  Wax, gotta remember that...and the small toothbrushes...

thanks so much for the advise and help..this is all new to me, I never had to have them...

My daughter is getting the Damon system braces too!  I wish they had those when I was young and had to have braces, so much less pain...actually the doctor we are going to promises no pain.  The great thing about the wire is that when it gets cold, the wire completely relaxes its shape, relieving any pain, so drinking cold items are a huge help and then when they warm back up they have shape memory and go back to the position/tightness they are supposed to be in!  Amazing stuff :)

Good Morning Paul & IL -
Congrats on the scale moving down.  I wish I could say the same.  Lately, It's been moving in the wrong direction.
So, another day of work for me.  I'm feeling pretty tired this morning but hope I get a little ***** in my step when I get moving.
I'm still trying to figure out what I'm bringing to the meet and greet.  Looks like it will be a "surprise".
So, I need to go get in the shower and get this day started.
Have a great day everyone.

Christina, I know how you feel about the scale moving the wrong way....this morning Jacob weighed himself and said that he lost 2 pounds, so then I weigh myself and told him that next time he needs to lose his pounds somewhere else, cuz they found there way to my a**   LOL

Good morning Paul and my Illinois friends! I've had a very busy week at work; not much time to post here. One more week and then Pam and I are off to the Caribbean. I need to start packing. Paul, congrats on your weight loss!

I will not be able to attend the meet and greet this weekend. But, my thoughts are with all of you. I'm sure it will be a success and fun for all.

Well, gotta get busy at work. Have a wonderful day.

Hugs to all.
