Looking for support group

Boy, have things changed on this website. I am having a hard time finding info about support groups in my area. I live in Elgin, had surgery at St. Alexis Medical Center w/the Kane Group.
The message I received when I clicked on SUPPORT GROUPS...directed me to go to the IL Message Board...I am totally confused.
I already know about the monthly support group meeting thru Alexian Brothers in Arlington Heights.
If anybody can help..that would be great.

Well, there used to be a list of the different support groups in IL but it looks like OH does not have that anymore. The only list I could find for events on the IL board is  for the upcoming seminars. I checked out three other surrounding states and the support group list is gone from them also.

Do not know what to tell you. There are a bunch of girls on this board that go to the Kane group support group. Maybe you can touch base with them and meet up with them.

ps Paul is having a get together at his house next Saturday. It would be a great time to meet many of us from the 'burb area of Chgo. Look back through a couple days posts and see if you can find some info and touch base with Paul

That is this board isn't it?  I still do not see what I am looking for.

You will not find the list of local support groups because OH evidentally does not have it anymore. I am not saying that you cannot come to this board for support, but the list of doctor's support groups is gone.

Many people on the IL board come here on a daily basis for cyber support. We try to have an informal get together at least monthly. Many of us go to our own doctor's support group.

We have a support group in Rockford on the third Monday of each month. It is open to anyone pre or post WLS. I know it might be a bit of a drive, but you are certainly welcome. If you want directions, just ask. Connie

There is a support group in Woodstock for Centegra, but it is open to anyone, we do have some members that have had their surgery with the Kane group.  You can check out the dates/times at their website www.centegra.com  The meetings are twice a month, and provide a forum to listen, talk, and they do have great informational presentations.  It is a wonderful group of people :)
