new here
I just wanted to post a quick hello and get in the swing of posting. I've been reading the posts for quite some time as I've been going thru the pre-approval process for Lap Band. The information on these boards are very helpful! Anyway, I've finally been approved and am scheduled for surgery on September 19th.
I am excited and scared. I'm confident in my decision to do this and I'm confident with the new life style I'm choosing to make for myself. I am just nervous about the pain. I've never had any type of surgery before and the most pain I've ever really experienced was when I twisted my ankle. I tend to always think the worst so I think I'm really just freaking myself out.
Anyway, I plan to keep up on the message boards, especially the Illinois forum (I'm in the Elgin area), as they are a great place to get question answered and information. Thanks for hearing me out.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and all the supportive comments! I'm looking forward to my new healthy and happy life and it is really nice to have a place to go to talk to someone who knows what you're going thru. I plan on attending the support groups through my doctor's office too.
Thanks again!

You will find a great group of people here, and a lot of support.
don't be nervous or worried about the pain. I had very little to none afterward. Anyway, you are embarking on a journey of a lifetime, and you will be part of the losers bench before you know it.

Welcome! Glad to have another member from Illinois posting. Congratulations on your approval and surgery date. It will be here before you know it! The surgery is not as bad as you might think. It is an awesome journey and a wonderful ride! I was so excited to have mine. It is a wonderful tool to have in your weight loss efforts. We will save a spot for you on the loser's bench.

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
