Screamin Knees - 5k Run - Run? I can't even walk!!!!

Well, yesterday was a cross-train day for 45-60mins. I didn't want anything jarring since my back was still sore so I decided to swim some laps. Now keep in mind, me swimming laps is getting half way down the lane and then ended up doing the doggie paddle and kick. Man, I thought I was in shape but just goes to show you that doing new things is awesome as you are humbled.

Well, today we are scheduled to run 5 - 400 meter laps. I know my challenge is just to run the entire way without walking. Boy, oh boy..I may need more than 6 weeks

Here is the problem, when I got up this morning I could barely walk, must less run

That being said, LET'S GET GOING

Let me know how it's going, what issues you are running into or what is working for you and remember our quote "OUR MINDS QUIT BEFORE OUR LEGS DO!

Take care,
Kathy
PS.... I tried to get a copy of the schedule on my profile but it wouldn't line up correctly, so email me and I will send a copy to you.

Kathy,
I have enjoyed reading your posts. I just started to run and am in the training stages also. I was training for a dualathon that was 8 laps swimming and 3 miles running. I swam laps this summer at the pool and enjoyed it and was able to do the 8 laps. So then I started to train for this 3 mile run. Lets just say that a turtle could out run me. I have completed a 3.6 mile run 3 times but it takes forever and a day. To be honest w/ you, I have really suprised myself at how well I have been running. I have lost about 40 pound so far and it sure makes a differance to the knees and joints! This is my problem....when I start trying to speed up my run, my chest feels like it is going to explode! Should I just keep trying to speed up and then when I feel to winded, just slow back down? I might be interested in doing some runs w/ you. I have never done a 5k or anything like that. Heck....I just want the t-shirt that says I ran a 5k!!!! Okay...plus when I run the weight comes off quicker!!! Thanks for these great posts! Keep them up!
Kim
