Hey kids many of you remember my posts from early in the year about my brother Jim - well today is his 69th birthday. I called him today and he sounded GREAT! Jim and I talked for a while about various things and about the fact that I am happy that he made it to his birthday and he is not 6' under. We touched base about our tomato plants and he is having the same problem as I and my neighbors are having this year - they are dying. Come to find out it is a fungus that happens every so many years. Oh well - again next year.

Thanks Chris-we were wondering why our tomatoes were so crappy-the peppers are thriving and they are in a basket!!  I have had nothing but showers and weddings this summer too.  I didn't even go to any of them-budget is just too tight!!  Glad your brother is doing so well-he sure went through a lot-I bet this was a very happy birthday for him-Big Hugs-Janet K

Jim mentioned that as I have leaves with small brown spots on them then they turn yellow and die. The plants die from the bottom up. I was bummed as Mary my sister gave me the one plant and I decided to start a small container garden with flowers, two tomatoes and two pepper plants. And yes my peppers are doing well also. When I saw the spots I decied to just give them a spray with soapy water, well I decided that more liquid soap would be better then they both died. I thought the soap killed them come to find out it is the fungus . . . . . . . . . . .

Same here, and the few tomatoes we got at first were perfect on top and rotten on the bottom-it was wierd!  I think total we will get about 8 tomatoes from 6 plants.  I guess it's good Eddie and I aren't farmers!!! G'Night!

Tonights dinner was fresh okra , tomato slices, steamed cabbage and green beans. I made raised beds this year and I have a beautiful garden best I have ever had. Then we had grilled chicken.

So far my tomates have been ok but the cantainer pots with tomato plants in them have died back and the tomatoes were all rotten on the bottom!

I just wanted to share my food becuase I worked so hard on it and it has paid off for me this yr.
