New Member to Illinois Forum

Hello Illinois WLS'ers.  I just had my RNY on Wednesday and just found this local forum.  Today I will be resting and recovering.  After 4 days of orange jello, today I will be switching to Lemon!  Woo Hoo

How do we get registered on the Illinois Member Directory?  Are there any support groups in the city (Chicago) ?

Congrats on your surgery and you'll be doing great, just follow your doc's plan. I haven't had surgery yet, I am still in the phase of meeting the requirements.  This is a very friendly board and I'm sure that the others will be welcoming you soon and have info on support meetings etc.  Please post on the Daily roll call so you can get to know us and we cn get to know you.  Again, Welcome, Paulette

By posting here you will be listed in the Illinois member directory.  I am sure there are support groups  in the city but I live in the boonies and am not familiar wih what is going on in the city.  I do know that U of Chicago has a weight loss program so I imagine they have a support group as well.  You may also want to ask your surgeon if they are aware of any. 

Check out the daily roll call.  There is a meet and greet in Cary IL the last Saturday of this month. You might want to consider coming.  We are a friendly group!

Welcome to the IL board-we are the best!!!  Please join in our daily roll call and keep us informed about yourself and we'll try to answer your questions or direct to to WLS guru who can.  I'm from the 'burbs so I'm not familiar w/City support groups, but I would think you surgeon might know of some.

First of all Welcome to our little home!

This was the best place I found pre op and definitely the best post op.  I had my surgery on 8/11/08 so I am not much further out than you.  It is getting better everyday and I hear ya on wanting more flavors in your life.

Today I mixed a protein shake that I actually liked and helped me get in almost 50g of protein today!  A huge accomplishment for me.  I also went on a walk with my almost 2yr old who was so happy mommy was outside she couldnt stand herself!  She was very protective of me, kep****ching to see if I was ok and looking back when she was ahead.  SHe likes to see all the "owies" and give my belly a kiss.

Is your surgeon from a group or a bariatric center? If so they should have support groups, or if not, I dont know where you live in the city but there are alot out here in the burbs if you are willing to travel. 

I belong to the Kane center as do some others here, and if you check their website, they have a schedule of groups and classes.
