Interested in a DS or DS Revision? Dr. Rabkin is coming to Chicago
Hi, guys! I like to post this monthly, just to make sure everyone knows about this opportunity.
Dr. John Rabkin (from San Fran) comes to most of our Chicago monthly support groups and gives an info session for those considering the DS. The next one is on Monday, August 18, from 6-8 p.m. and he will be at this one, according to his office.
Whether you are a pre-op looking for answers, a post-op looking for support, or someone looking for a revision, this meeting is for you. It is also open to all Dsers, no matter who does your surgery.
This meeting is held the third Monday of every month, from 6-8 p.m. at the Union League Club on Jackson in Chicago. They DO have a dress code, as it is a private club--no jeans, no denim skirts, no cutsie tee-shirts with words on them.
The first hour, in a separate room, is always an informational session to all who are considering WLS and the DS. Please note that it is first a "history of WLS" mini-lecture and is heavily slanted toward the DS, since Dr. Rabkin unapologetically refuses to do the RNY or Lap-Band, citing stats as to success rates and quality of life issues, so if your heart is set on getting a RNY or Lap-Band...it's probably not for you. (This is always my disclaimer.)
In another room is the support goup meeting for post-ops.
The second hour, the "newbies" join the post-ops and ask questions. I learned a lot when I went to these pre-op. I'll be there and would be happy to show you the ropes.
