I have been visiting (lurking) the revision board for the past few weeks and thought that I would see if there was anything going on in IL.  I am so glad I found it!
I had my gbypass in 9/2000.  It was the best thing that I ever did for myself.  I maintained for 6 years but had some depression issues and started to regain.  I am up 40 lbs. and trying to get things back, thus lurking for revisions or help with eating issues. Hope to chat with you soon!

Welcome Deb!  You are at the right place.  Although we love our lurker's, it's always a pleasure to converse as well.  As you probably have already seen, there are many members of our Illinois family here on the board and they usually have answers to just about any question that comes up.  I am a lap band person and I've been doing well.  Although you probably have already worked out your plans, you may want to look at lap banding as a possibility.  Miss. Lucy, a long time member on the board, just had that done and she was having good success with it.  She's been MIA for the last few weeks, but I'm sure she'll be back on soon.  I can answer most questions about the band, but I never had RNY, so I can't really speak to that specifically.  Although, I read sooo much on the board, I might know!  Anyway, welcome and watch for our next get together.  Generally speaking, we have great food that nobody eats!!!  Paul

You are in the right place.......we have a member, Christie Lyons, who is doing a GREAT job of getting back to basics and losing her re-gain.  Perhaps she'll stop in and introduce herself to you.  Check on the roll call to hear about her latest success!

Thanks guys!  It's nice knowing that there are people out there.  I had an  appointment with  Dr. Kushner at Northwestern.  He suggested a ercp scope, which I had last week.  I'm also scheduled for a catscan and a meeting with a nutricionalist(?).  That's coming up this Wednesday.  I've been having some stomach pain.  I'm going to ask about the lapband, to see if I would qualify.  I had a twisted bowel a few years ago from adhesions, so I don't know if that's a problem.  When I had my bypass there weren't any meetings in the area and I did not have half of the information that's now available. hi!  i definetly know about regain!!  =)  feel free to pm if you need anymore info that what i give here.  happy to chat away!!

before fully thinking about undergoing another surgery for weight loss, might i recommend taking a hard look at how your eating.  i gained 120 pounds from my lowest weight.  i tried to blame it on 3 pregnancies in 3 years but the truth really is how i was eating.  i took advantage of every craving that i had and drank with all my meals.  fast food entered back into my life.  basically, i was eating how i was pre-surgery because i had simply forgotten all the rules.  i definetly don't want to make this seem at all insignificant, but with having a 40 pound regain, i think you could probably do well with getting back on the program and just telling yourself over and over again that your a new post op.  =)  www.5daypouchtest.com is where i started.  i followed that to a T and gradually started adding regular foods back in.  i definetly do not drink 30 mins before or after anything that i eat.  i was quite surprised to see how i really did still feel full!  i also began logging everything that i eat into fitday.com (or dailyplate.com).  that helped me to also see where my calories were coming from.  it was very surprising to discover that i hadn't stretched my pouch out and that it really did still work the way that it was designed to!  i get full now on small portions again.  i've been measuring everything!!  here's an example of what i eat in a day to give you some idea:

breakfast:

1/2 cup egg beaters (equiv to 2 eggs)
2 turkey sausage patties
1/2 a whole wheat english muffin with some i can't believe its not butter

i usually do 30 mins on my elliptical machine between breakfast and lunch so my mid morning snack is usually 2 scoops of designer whey protein afterwards and that satisfies the munchies til lunch.

lunch:

2 cups of any pre-packaged salad i have on hand
1/4 cup of shredded cheese
1 Tbsp of reduced fat bacon bits
1/2 cup of sliced grilled chicken breast (the kind you buy predone cause i'm not THAT good!) =)

mid afternoon snack:

1 3 oz pouch of light tuna
1 Tbsp of sweet relish
1 slice of reduced fat cheddar cheese

dinner:

a small chicken breast cooked however i'm cooking for my family
2/3 cups of whatever veggies they are having
1/4 cup brown rice

my sometimes dessert before bed is usually a sugar free fudgesicle or sugar free pudding.

eating like this usually gives me about 1000 calories a day when you factor in the exercise that i do.  it has worked very well for me!  i'd like to think that it could work well for you.  i've lost 37 pounds of my regain in 2 months since starting this.  i'm starting to feel much better about myself.

the biggest key that i can possibly give to you though, is you HAVE to be ready!  mentally, physically, psycologically ready.  otherwise it will probably fail you again.  same with a revision.  if your not 100% ready to make these commitments again, theres a good chance it won't work.

and all this info is simply based on what happened with me.  a revision wasn't an option for me because the surgery didn't fail me, i failed the surgery.  admitting that to myself was a very difficult thing to do.  it took seeing my old before and afters to really slap me across my face and show me exactly what i had done to myself.  YOU CAN DO THIS!!!! take all the doubts out of your head and convince yourself that your surgery WILL still work for you if you work for it.  its going to be hard.  and the first month you will probably say, 'this so isn't worth it!  i can get a revision and just be done, at least i know that will work'.  but after i saw the measuring tape move it started to click to me and it started making it worth it!

best of luck to you!!  sorry this is so long.  as i said, this is all from my perception and my situation and what happened to me.  hopefully it can help you too!  good luck and feel free to contact further if you need more!  =)  always happy to help

Hi Christie, I  have been reading posts I missed this past week and just read this.  The typical menu you show is close to what I've been eating since  June 20th as part of my 6 mos med supv diet. I laughed because my evening snack is the same too. The only prob I have had is getting to the 1000 calories, I usually don't eat a mid morning or aft. snack. but now that I've seen your snack idea I will try that in the afternoon.  I've had a little trouble getting enough protein in so that should help. Since June 20th I've been losing @ 2 lbs per week.  Before I wasn't getting in enough calories and still sometimes have that problem. I can get the 700-800 cals easy, the hard part is the next 200-300 daily.  Paulette

Thank you sooooooo much.  This is exactly what I have been looking for.  I really do not want to go through another surgery, I had enough already!  I had lost initally lost 150 lbs.  When I'm good, I'm real good, but when I'm bad, I'm real bad...  After that bout with depression everything went out the window.  I'm ready to jump back in.  Thanks so much for your words of inspiration.  I am going to keep coming back to your post over and over again.
