For those of you that don't take dumping on sugar seriously or
better yet, don't think you do dump on sugar so you think you can't dump on it. Boy have I got a story for you. I am one of those post ops that can get away with some sugar so I decided to pu**** with dangerous results. My post should serve as a warning, don't let this happen to you.

Oh my gosh! You poor thing! That sounds awful! You sound like a loving and caring mom--don't beat yourself up for this. I just wish you didn't have to go though this kind of thing.
Thank you for sharing your story. It was brave of you.

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
I'm sorry you're experiencing this, I really am.
I'm all too familiar with dumping. Before my revision I dumped at nearly every meal. It was exhausting! There were times that I ate lunch at work and had to disappear into the conference room to lay down on the floor where no one could see me. I get home from work and eat dinner with my family, give my girls a bath and then fall asleep on the sofa when the cold sweat started and my heart felt like it was jumping out of my chest.
In the end my diabetes returned because the dumping could not be controlled by my diet. 2 weeks prior to my revision I was in the hospital because after dinner that one night my dumping put my blood sugar at 602!!! Several hours later my blood sugar was down to 60 something. What's it feel like when your sugar is 602? I felt like I was dying, I couldn't move, my body ached all over, I was listless, and completely delirious! It 's the worst thing you can expereince as an RNYer.
I agree with you, dumping is definitely a lot like hypoglycemia...I believe they call it reactive hypoglycemia. Blood sugar goes up really high, really fast and then drops very quickly and goes lower than it should. This rollercoaster can happen in all of an hour, but by that time you're passed out.
